I took my new FN-40 to the range and shot both FMJ and HP bullets from various manufacturers and it performed flawlessly. My carry gun is a Glock 27 but the build quality of the FN is far superior. I have shot thousands of rounds through my Glock and in my opinion the Glock trigger is superior to the FN. But the FN trigger is fine and with ongoing use at the range it may improve. The FN's feel in the hand is a thousand % better than the Glock but that is no surprise. I was very satisfied with the accuracy and I shoot it better than my Glock. The fit and finish is impeccable. I discovered that my prior complaints about the operation of the slide and mag release was unfounded. I love the feel of the slide and the mag release works just fine. The FN cost more than $200 less than my Glock but the look and feel and overall quality is so far superior to the Glock. The FN is the finest gun I own and with a little adjustment it may replace the Glock as my concealed carry gun.

Today I picked up the FNs-40 from my FFL. So this review has nothing to do with how well it shoots. Palmetto sold it for a terrific price and they are good to deal with. I loaded up all 3 magazines with 14 FMJ rounds and they filled to capacity easily. All 3 magazines slid into the gun beautifully and the fit and finish of the magazine to the mag-well was perfect. The overall fit and finish and the attractive look of this gun is wonderful. The trigger pull was a little mushy and gritty but still it is a fine trigger. The trigger reset is incredibly short. I observed that LE is engraved on the inside of the slide (neither a negative or a positive). When racking the slide it feels like it is catching on something and I found it very disturbing. I love the ambidextrous design of this gun since I am a lefty. However I found the magazine release very stiff and that also disturbs me but I won't have to worry about accidental release of the magazine. I was extremely disappointed when I realized that the night sights are not Trijicon. Every you tube review noted the gun came with Trijicon sights. My sights are not marked to show origin and they are very unimpressive. It is better than nothing but what a downer. The texture of the grip is great and as a result I will not add Talon grips like I have on all my other guns. I am sure I will really enjoy shooting this gun but the negatives noted took the smile off my face. Accordingly quality was rated 4 stars. If I discover anything else especially after a shooting session I will supplement this review.
