What has everyone chosen for possible Carry ammo 
Vanguard outfitters Black dragon fang, accept no substitutes. I’ve heard enough questionable things regarding EA to not be comfortable putting my life in their hands. They do make some good stuff and they do make some awesome stuff but not what I would go with personally.
R&R weapons systems also has some awesome ammo that I’ve never heard anything but good things about, so if vanguard outfitters doesn’t quite fit the bill for you then they might.
Some folks like the speer gold dot and I’ve heard overall decent things but not anything that would make me choose it over black dragon fang.

I don’t think you have to worry about Elite’ ammo anytime soon. Except for their T6B which is out of stock ( Sold Out ) and not even available on back order, all their other ammo is “Not Available “ or Sold Out.

I have 25 rds of s4 but dont know how i feel about it. It all is in my 5.7 Rock right now. so I hope I never find out how it works

I had no problem getting black dragon fang all through the pandemic. All you have to do is check the site a few times a week if it’s not currently in stock. Or you can preorder from the next batch. I had so much I put some up for a penny auction on gb, which then paid for all of my ammo.

It’s available, Buffman tests show it has very good down-range performance, and it’s available.

Hornady V-Max looks like it works decently in gel tests. Not the best but the cheapest and most available. Has anybody done a comparison of them all?

As far as ‘common’ ammo goes it seems like the best options would be speer gold dot, ss198lf,ss195lf, and then the plinking ammo.

well first they are making FMJ and V-Max but i wouldnt be surprised if down the line they do more defense rounds.
