Any favorites for the 10mm Handguns? The SW Revolver was pretty cool looking but cost is ridiculous to be honest. SW 10mm Performance Center looked very nice just hate the co-witness sights, far too high for holster or carry. I don’t like red dots either prefer iron sights so the sights look a little stupid to be honest and would hang on everything from a holster or jacket pocket. Probably Glock 20 wins so far.
I would get the SW if I could replace those sights? Not sure if anyone knows if easy enough.
Springfield XD or XDM (? Not recalling which one is avalible in 10mm) in 10mm is not comfortable in had under recoil for 10mm standard loads. You actually need to check as quite a few 10mm loads are low powered in the .40 Smith and Wesson range.
I prefer the glocks in 10mm.
G29, killed a few snakes & put down an elk after it brodsided my truck.
G20, 1st one I got about 17 years back.
G40
Have had no issue with 200 grain hardcast, 1200 fps MV, by Underwood.
I got a smoking deal on 500 rnds of Armscore 10mm, but knew it was loaded to the .40S&W specs, prior to purchase, brass cased.
All three glock models will shoot .40S&W if ammo gets scarce.
I wear a size 11.5-12 glove aka XXL. The 10mm/.45acp glocks fit my hand like it was made for me. The SF (short frame) fits average size hands better.
The Glock 20 is maybe my favorite pistol, and it is my choice for hiking in bear country.
If you like hammer-fired guns, the Tanfoglio Witness is my vote.
Yeah it is hard to decide to be honest. I like the Smith because they ported the barrel to counter some of the barrel flip, but I have not shot one myself. I was hoping someone here might have shot one before. I take youtube and online reviews as nothing burgers because everyone wants to be compensated so very few decent reviews that I trust. But the co-witness sights annoy me. I have yet to find a red dot that centers fast enough to be used honestly. However I have not used any high end like Holosun.
I’ve shot the 20 and S XD-M. What did I buy? PSA ran a screaming deal on the Rock Island Rock Ultra FS and I could not say no. At 240 ounces it makes even a hot 200 grn hard cast manageable. Heavy, wouldn’t to carry it all day, but maybe in a chest rig or I use as a truck gun, at the price >400, can’t be beat. Only 8 rounds, wish I had held out for the HC model but oh well, 35 for a 2nd mag and I’m good.
The wheelguns give up capacity, but have excellent triggers, good recoil mitigation, a longer sight radius (with the 6” barrels,) and can easily handle any load you can throw at them. Just another option to consider, something I wasn’t sure if you’d thought about.
My Brother carries the SAR B6 as an EDC - it’s a Tanfoglio/CZ-75c Klön. I’ve shot it, very smooth, especially for a sub-$200 plastic gun. I have been seriously considering picking one (or three!) of those up whilst PSA has them on special.
I do not know if SAR has a 10mm version, but I wouldn’t hesitate to carry one if they did.
I have a SW 10mm Performance Center and like it a lot. I got the Performance Center model for the better trigger and comp, same as the one in your picture. I believe the comp keeps the muzzle down, as mine doesn’t flip up very much at all, no more than my 9mms without a comp. But I do feel the harder recoil, but it’s not that bad, it’s more of a straight back push. I read a lot about the different SW 10mm models, and a lot of people said the comp makes a huge difference compared to the shorter non-comp SW pistols.
