Got it on a scale today.
Final weight: 6lb, 4oz with optic (which is 11oz) and an aluminum handstop, so the upper and lower fully built are under 6lbs.

That’s an impressively light build, without going to polymer or carbon fiber parts. Get her tuned right and I hope it’ll be a ton of fun to shoot.
Thanks again for your advice and whatnot. Not being a huge AR guy it was helpful having you to back up my thoughts and steer me away from the lightweight BCGs.
how long is the barrel again? im impressed with the weight as well.
It’s a 14.5 pencil that comes to 16" with the integral muzzle brake
ah yes… the pencil barrel helps considerably with the weight. very nice.
Range day report!
Got everything set up and went to feed first round (55g FMJ) ever, pulled the CH, and…double feed. As I removed the mag to start cursing up a storm and clear the jam, took a deep breath and just went for it again. Put those two rounds off to the side, inserted the same mag, and it was off to the races. Ended up firing off those two shots without issue after the first mag. No issues whatsoever from there on, so I probably just fed the rounds in that mag awkwardly. 150 rounds total, no FTF, FTE, and ejection pattern was between 3-4 o’clock according to the RSO who I asked to watch.
First 20 shots on a standard IDPA target standing at 25 yards, 18 in the 0 in center, 2 juuust outside in the -1, taking about a half second between shots. Second 20 shots at the head, 15 in the 0, 5 just high in the -1 at the same timing. Nothing in the -3.
Very pleased overall.
It wouldn’t be any fun if you didn’t start off with a problem!
Glad to hear it’s running well!
I was absolutely ready to rage when the bolt got stuck. Turns out it was just user error…not that any of us obvious professionals ever screw up, you know?
Had a few different guys stop and ask me about the 2x prism and what I thought of it. I think it’s perfect for a rifle like this, something you want to be quick and accurate but not necessarily a precision weapon. When I was firing at the IDPA target at 25 yards, I wasn’t using the chevron at all, was just putting the horseshoe dead center and firing and the results were great. Would highly recommend for an AK too, seems right in that wheelhouse as far as range and capability goes.
I’ve been impressed with the accuracy of all my PSA rifles and it looks like yours is no different.
Swapped the safety to a 45 degree throw and swapped out the standard bolt catch for a Phase 5. Those are neat because unlike BAD levers they’re all one solid metal unit. I don’t care much for ambi stuff but it is nice to be able to send the bolt forward with a quick flick of my trigger finger. With the safety, I like how I can rest my thumb on it now.
And so it begins… The endless modifications, upgrades, tweaks, part swaps, and all the rest for a lifetime hobby.
looks great… i put a .45 ambi on my jakls too and love them…
i dont mind ambi, i setup all my guns that way cause you never know… and well what i dont know will kill me.
I like flicking the safety off with my thumb but back on with the side of my trigger finger. Trying to turn the safety on with my thumb on a standard AR always felt a little weird to me.
