Are the dissipater uppers still in production?

june 2023, is this “still in the works”?

Welcome to the forum @the_real_teddy_bear

What is it that you are asking about?

No, afraid not. PSA said they put it on the back burner, because of the ammo company, but some of us think they crunched the numbers and realized they couldn’t hit a price point worth making it profitable. I mean they were able to develop and bring to market the Dagger, the Rock, and the JAKL during the same time, but somehow they PSA couldn’t manage to bring to market a product THEY said was 95% ready for release in 2020.:rofl:

A lot has happened since Jan of 2020. The jakl was easiest to bring online because its an AR15, and the dagger second easiest. But even it had hiccups along the way.

Welcome to the forums @the_real_teddy_bear glad to have you

the short answer is NO.

it is on hold indefinately.

I don’t think we’re getting the MP5 anytime soon

as i said above. No. iits pretty canceled if there was any other way to say that its not happening, its not being worked on, its no longer planned to be built or sold, they shelved the project… etc…etc… forget about the mp5 already. so yeah… thats about the only ways i know to say no, there is no more plans to produce a MP5 from PSA at this time.

This was meant as a direct reply to the OP’s post, I didn’t see any of your post explaining it until I’ve posted. There’s no need to be aggro over it, not like anyone is forcing you to read and respond to these. Furthermore, I myself wouldn’t be in favor of an MP5 clone from PSA as 1. I think they should expand their facilities and manufacturing capacity before releasing anymore new weapons and 2. A lot of companies are already making and importing MP5 clones, it’s already a saturated market. I prefer they make copies of the Uzi series. They can do full size uzis, minis, and micro uzis and sell them in pistol or carbine configs and in various calibers like .45 ACP like some IMI variants were. Last I checked Vector Arms or Century aren’t selling them anymore.

@Floridaman i think the issue was you posted in a thread that was 8 months old. GCO, like me, is one of the mods here. We have lots of issues of spam accounts posting in old threads and it always elevates our Spidey Sense.

sorry if it came across as aggro I wasnt and am not. I’m with you now, as there are so many other inexpensive alternatives out there now that there is plenty to choose from. besides, im much happier knowing t hat they are using the money they were going to use to develope it to build the 100 million ammo plant and what ever else they chose to.

PSA is constantly expanding their facilities and manufacturing capacity that i can assure you, as i’ve seen a good bit of it in person, and have plans to see much more in the near future. I’m not sure if there is that much demand now a days for another clone of Uzi’s. so im not really on the boat with you there… however i do love .45 so an uzi in .45 i’d be on board for maybe,… depending on price of course.

Makes sense

I don’t think there’s much of a reason for PSA to be getting too into niche firearms at all.

The X5.7 might be considered that, but they already have the Rock architecture and they’re producing 5.7 in the ammo plant, so it makes sense with those considerations. I very much like seeing them go after segments where they think they can produce better options for lower prices than what’s available and I have a feeling that’s exactly why they’ve chosen to get into bolt-actions and pump shotguns given the success they had doing exactly that with the Dagger, AK, and JAKL lines.

I don’t think they need to get TOO cute with it. The STG may be pushing that envelope a bit because of its price and limited appeal, but we’ll see how it does. I think they may be doing the same thing with the Thumper, but as a concept, again, no guarantee it comes out.

I had a good response all written out, but my laptop did something funky and now its gone. .

lets just say dont forget about the Sabre lineup when talking about price. Essentially what they’re doing there is customizing the rifle in the factory for you to buy so you dont. have to customize it at home. keepin the prices below 1500.00 on those is also awesome as with customizing a rifle it can go into the 2-2600 range rather quickly.

the x5.7 Jamin and crew has stated will be at 999.99 when it arrives so thats awesome keeping the prices down. and i hope to see much more like it

the stg44, well they bought the company that bankrupted but had already taken money for the gun… so they’re honoring those priced at what the previous company had sold at to the ones who pre-ordered or paid prior. the ones after that i’ve heard mixed numbers but last time iheard anything it was probably going to be one of the most expensive PSA offerings at 2000.00 or 2400.00 that is speculation and heresay… but it was on video at shot… so idk. will it deter me from getting one? no… ill still do it, i may have to save up but i will do it, niche weapon or not. its gonna be damn cool to shoot a stg44 in something other than .22 lr. like i have now. Hopefully the other offerings they are going to produce in their battlefield pickup line will be just as awesome. i know if they can come even close to the mp44 in 9mm by GSG theyre gonna do awesome.

A thousand bucks is a LOT of money for most people, especially these days. I get it, development costs, economy, etc, but basically the point of my last post is that PSA has been successful not because of niche firearms, but because they’ve been offering good solid products with an extremely wide range of appeal to people at reasonable prices. Their ARs, AKs, and Daggers are immensely popular for a reason. Hardos on the internet calling everyone poors aside, most people do not want to spend $1500-3k on an AR, being able to get a good, functional, reliable AR from PSA for 4-500 bucks is what set them apart.

The X doesn’t really fit into the same category, is all. It’s something that’s a less popular style, less utilitarian in the sense that it will probably be used by most as a toy, in a more expensive and less prolific caliber that not all people will have a use for. It’s cool, and I’m glad they’re doing it, but $1k for that isn’t exactly what I’d call budget-friendly, nor is the idea behind it what made PSA successful and prolific in the first place. The Rock is awesome because it’s a great pistol that costs a fraction of what the FN does.

Now, when it comes to the 570, if PSA can offer up something that does what the Mossberg 590 does, but they do it just as well or not better, and undercut the price, that’s pure PSA at its core, same with the Emerge relative to the Remington 700. That’s the kind of stuff that will keep them running, same stuff they did with the AR and Dagger line. Focusing too much on things like the X and the STG that don’t have that massive range of appeal could end up costing them in the long run.

All is IMO, of course.
