LOL. Sniper grey cerakote.
$100 says I’m the only person that has an AK-12 stock on their PSA AK
Have a mount and optics on its way. Debating cutting the barrel down to 14" or so and welding the brake. What do yall think?
Oops….got my answer.
PSA-AK-104. Threw the original thermo-plastic grip & hand guards in the parts bin and replaced it with vintage (1960s) bakelite hand guards and a Vintage Bakelite PKM machine gun grip. Added the Griffin Armament thread adapter and my Liberty LS1 suppressor host. I used epoxy to install a heat shield inside the Bakelite grip and it stays significantly cooler than my AK-103 that doesn’t have the heat shielding. If you prefer the AR grip angle of the Bravo Company “Gunfighter” grip….the PKM machine gun grip matches the angle of the Gunfighter grip. Its a more comfortable grip than the standard AK grip. This AK ROCKs !
Minimum changes resulted in a major appearance upgrade. Gotta love that Bakelite!
Got my RS Regulate Mount and Primary Arms 1x micro-prism in. Now I’m just waiting on the Zenitco rp-5 charging handle. And then chopping the barrel down to 14". So close I can see it.
I just ordered one of those PA prisim red dots….it’s on back order. How do you like yours….do us a review of it.
Thanks
It’s really nice
The craftsmanship is well done, very rugged, comes with everything you need. The reticle is larger and more crisp than the last Gen. And the eye box is very generous. It’s also day light bright at the highest setting.
The only negative is the adjustments are in 1 MOA clicks. Which isn’t the end for a 1x. But 1/2 MOA would of been appreciated.
Serious question: is a legit bakelite awesome enough to justify the…“elevated” price point? I’ve been very happy with 74 pmags after minor filing for that noice n toight fit in an arsenal, and the handful of steel I have for 47 have been 100% as well. Bakelite is just so damn cool, though.
Some people will say they’re the best magazines ever made. I think that’s bs.
I have them because I think they’re really cool and a neat collectible. Same with the slab side. It’s really cool but in no way a more practical alternative to modern steel or polymer mags.
Edit: I guess should qualify that it depends on the metric you’re using. Functionally, in my rifle, they perform no differently than my steel Bulgarian mags. So aside from being collectible and a slight weight savings, no reason for me to load up on bakelites.
Two reasons why I buy Bakelites. For my PSA-AK104
1st. (Most Important!). is Bakelites are collectible….and their value increases annually. As long as you use them……not abuse them….if you choose to sell them 1, 2 or 5 years from now……you will likely get your money returned….probably a little more than what you paid…if your lucky.
2nd. My “other” gun is a PSA KS47 and steel AK mags destroy the upper receiver “over-insertion” tabs….so it’s either Bakelites or Polymer mags for me.
BTW…Iam a big fan of that new PSA waffle mag…PSA hit a home run with that one.
I have Bulgarian Cir-10’s, Kaslash Slab sides and P-Mags, but those Bakelites….are $ $ I’ll sell some time later on and I’ll stick to Polymers.
Recycle that Foam in the PSA shipping box.
Cut it to fit an inexpensive Tennis Racket case from Academy Sports.
Use a Hot Glue gun to glue the foam in……and you have a wonderful protective case….that does not attract “he’s got a gun” attention.
Fits AK-104 or AK-103 with folding stock.
Got that Zenitco drip going hardcore. Just got in the rp-5 charging handle. Still debating cutting back the barrel a little. Either way, its pretty much ready for Kalash Bash 2021.
that is quite a novel idea with the foam… good job there!
Done setting up my PSA AK-104. Vintage Russian Bakelite hand-guard and grip. Replaced the original small magazine release lever….with a larger Polish Radom Mag Release Lever. Removed the SB tactical triangle Brace…it’s flexing bugged me especially during reloads. Install the KGB side folder and Tail Hook arm Brace….no more flexing….this AK is rock solid. RS Regulate 302 with the ACOG base. I cut the excess off of the base to fit the PA SLX 1power Prism optic. If your older and your having trouble seeing a clear focused red dot….this is the optic you need. It has a diopter that you adjust for your eyesight. Running a Liberty Mystic X suppressor on it. Later I’ll be installing a KNS adjustable piston and a new LPVO on a quick release base. But for now……it’s going to stay this way for a while.
Lookin good, there. Digging the bakelite furniture. Also, that looks like an ALG trigger in it. Absolutely love those. Got one for every ak and plan to keep doing so in the future.
