Inexpensive ok weapon
Just purchased this 9mm on sale at PSA. I purchased it to give myself an option for a lighter less expensive EDC. The gun itself looks great. It is a little rough around some of the plastic edges (trigger tip magazine pinky extender baseplate weapon muzzle) but nothing a small file didn't fix. As a "budget" weapon it shows in it's lack of fit and finish but it has everything else that counts aesthetically. The green cerakote and tan is a nice touch. It comes with 1 single stack - 7 round magazine. I cleaned and oiled everything prior to range time. Functionally I've only put 150 rounds through it with different brands of ammo with no FTF or FTE as of yet. Being the weapon is lighter and slimmer than other compact 9mm's the recoil is noticeably greater. It's good for EDC but not so much for extended range sessions. It consistently fires low ranging from 4" - 8" dependent on target distance. This is disappointing for a weapon right out of the box. I asked KelTec to send me a rear sight shim kit to fix the problem but they either want me to purchase the kit ($13 + tax/ shipping) or send the weapon in (I pay shipping) so that they can do the repair under warranty. That too is disappointing. I don't see much sense in sending the firearm in when it's easier to provide them a copy of my sales receipt and for them to send the shim kit free of charge.
