What type of buffer and spring should I use with this bcg for a ar9 pistol setup?
Thomas B on May 29, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I have figured out that when building the 9mm carbine I put together the buffer and spring were used to help limit bcg travel. I used a standard buffer spring and a 6.5 oz pistol buffer. My carbine worked well. I hope this helps.
Is the "gas key" screwed on or is it a one piece BCG (where the key is milled into the bolt)? I'm hearing about the gas key breaking loose in PSA AR-9's.
Todd P on Jun 29, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Gas key is screwed on and didn’t come loose , the key doesn’t take “ gas in “ seeing it’s blow back, the charging handle is only reason it’s in place shouldn’t have any problems I’ve ran mine 4,500rds without problem

Once I found the right ammo I love it!
I purchased a complete pistol upper with the PSA-9 hybrid BCG and the only problem I have had is that it doesn't like steel and aluminum ammo, only functions properly with brass. Also had to cut down the spring on the firing pin to make it strike ammo hard enough to engage the primer on the ammo.

So far it’s great
No complaints so far.

2 of these PSA 9mm BCGs with no problems yet
I have 2 of these things. Both in ARs with colt style/metalform magwell conversions. One actually runs with a slidefire stock on it and it churns through the ammo all day long with not one failure. I've been running that one in that manner for over a year. BTW - these things along with a H3 buffer and a slide fire stock are a BLAST!

Good Quality
My glock magazine PA-9 has close to 1000 rounds through it right now and the bolt has functioned flawlessly for me. The finish has worn off fairly quickly in some spots but thats what oil is for. No issues FTF or FTE and the bolt ejects the brass in a pile about 15-20 feet away.

Great with 9mm glock lower
Purchased this bolt and 9mm glock mag lower. The bolt performs as it should with no feeding or extraction issues with numerous types of ammo including steel case. The only drawback I have found so far is my hammer is creating some significant wear marks on the inside of the bolt where the top of the hammer is impacting the bolt. It does not hamper performance but it something to be aware of if you are using a standard ar milspec trigger.

A different point of view
I have been purchasing from Palmetto Armory for several years. I only had one instance that needed contact with PSA Customer Service. The call was handled in a very straight forward business like manner and was resolved with one phone contact. The replacement part was forwarded and received in a very timely manner.
It is easy for a competitor to state "would never do business in this manner". Yet when presented with the same situation or conditions the results are often the same.
Could it possibility be that PSA does not offer an extraction as a separate part or that considering a repeat failure that there could possibly be a concern with the weapon itself and in an effort to prevent possible injury due to a malfunction that it would be better to have the weapon returned and a refund issued or the weapon replaced.
There are always two parts to each story...wonder what PSA version would be?
PSA has always supplied me and other customers I have recommended first rate service good quality parts and in the one instance CS was required very satisfactory service.
Considering the number of positive post for this company I would suggest that you Sir are in the minority.
