Does anyone know the weight of this?
GAdog on Dec 13, 2018
Is the gas block secured via a set screw and if so is the barrel dimpled?
Chris G on Dec 16, 2018
BEST ANSWER: No, but check out my review as to why this is a good thing. The factory workers don't have time to install the gas block perfectly level, so if they were to dimple them they'd be permanently altering the barrel based on a potentially canted gas-block install. Take a few minutes to verify your GB mount, and if it's level dimple it yourself. Otherwise if you're like me who received an upper with a canted GB install, do the refit than dimple.
what keeps the handguard from slipping forward on the barrel nut?
tj j on Apr 7, 2019
BEST ANSWER: The barrel but has grooves and there are screws go in between preventing the rail from going forward. Hope this helped.
What sort of MOA accuracy are you seeing from this upper?
Kory D on Mar 27, 2019
BEST ANSWER: About 3.5 MOA. But that is with 62 grain green tips, not known for their accuracy.
Is the barrel 16" EXCLUDING the flash hider? Thanks.
John P on Mar 15, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Yes, the barrel is 16” all by itself. The flashhider will make it longer than 16”.
Can a suppressor be fitted to this flash hider?
Mikael on Mar 1, 2019
BEST ANSWER: yes the griffin m4sd will fit it.
Are the cuts on the top of the handguard M-LOK or just lightening cuts?
Zee A on May 4, 2019
BEST ANSWER: The ones along the side and bottom are M-LOK, all the others are to lighten the weight and are not.
Can this upper be used on a Colt M4 expanse lower and use its carrier group?
Joe F on Apr 17, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Thats what mine is currently sitting on top of might want to check head space though. Not required but a good idea.
Can the gasblock be removed and a standard F-marked frontsight be installed ? Meaning does the barrel have the notches for the front sight pins ? I understand the rail will not allow this but I plan to use the barrel on a different set up and part out the rest for others .

Thanks MG
Metal God on Apr 15, 2019
BEST ANSWER: no notches on mine, received two this week.
Is there a way to connect anything to the top rail section (it's not quite M-Lok but looks close)? looks like a dip for a scope. My concern is the rail gets pretty hot after rapid firing and it would be nice to know if you can install something on that section of the rail.
Bill V on May 20, 2019
BEST ANSWER: It appears to be M-Lok but it is not. I tried and tried and nothing fit on the upper cutouts.
Is this really government profile, i.e. skinny until the gas block and then fat after?
christopher c on Apr 9, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Yes it’s a A2 barrel.
Weight of upper ? Is this in your experience, a good all purpose upper for the guy that can only afford one ? Has any one added adjustable gas block and have recommended type ?

Amazing Upper
The finish was fine to me, not anything spectacular or anything to complain about. The Handguard is very lightweight. Dings up easily but this upper is meant to be used. Upper ate Wolf Gold, Federal 223, and Wolf Steel case. Not one problem so far. Accuracy is fine for my purposes. My gas block has yet to come undone and I did Loctite it along with the Handguard screws. Have yet to clean it. Runs well with a Toolcraft DLC Bolt Carrier Group. My only complaint is I wish the Handguard top cutouts were M-Lok compatible. Highly Recommend and a great deal. Even better if you can get this Upper with the Geissele Rail.

Helluva Deal
Very happy with this upper. Everything seemed sorted when it arrived, but I still put blue loctite on the handguard retaining screws. Over 800 rounds with no malfunctions. I definitely recommend the FN barrel due to durability, longevity and ease of cleaning.

Sleek rail, great barrel, will be one of your better handling 16” uppers
Very nice upper assembly everything properly aligned and torqued. You can’t get a better chrome lined barrel and definitely can’t get a chrome lined 16” barrel that is more accurate than an fn. Just out of habit I did lock tight the gas block screws and rail screws. Mid length gas system is great, rail is a keeper, and function is flawless. I use both PSA premium nib BCG’s and PSA premium BCG’s in my uppers and never had a problem. You will be happy and PSA is a solid company. Been using them for years. Also if you compare apples to apples I don’t think you can beat the value of their FN CHF uppers.

Save up for a true 'premium' option.
The Good: the barrel is very accurate, just as I'd expect from a FN barrel

The Bad: not a drop of loctite on either the gas block set screws or the handguard screws. Barrel was not dimpled and gas block was not properly aligned. After the 2nd range trip, approx 200 rounds in the handguard began walking.

I would expect more of any 'premium' upper. I would suggest staying away from these, if it were not for the barrel alone being nearly worth 300.

Very Impressed!
This CHF upper was recently on sale, so I couldn’t resist. I had my eye on them for a while and the sale price talked me into it. I am extremely happy after firing the first 250 rounds. This upper was mated to an Aero Precision M4E1 lower and PSA Premium BCG.

Upper Receiver: Fit and finish is excellent. It matched up nicely with my Aero lower. There is no significant play between the two. The M4E1 lower has an integrated tension screw, which can be adjusted to tighten the receiver fit. However, it wasn’t needed with this upper.

Barrel: Again, fit and finish is excellent. It is proof marked with the FN logo. Accuracy is comparable to my other quality uppers.

Gas Block: The block was properly installed and perfectly centered (not canted as mentioned by a previous reviewer). The set screws were not very tight, so I added some Loctite and re-torqued. The barrel is not dimpled for the set screws, but the gas block didn’t budge after the first 250 rounds. I don't expect any issues. Also, the spent brass ejection was very consistent…around the 2 o’clock position with a standard buffer. Slightly over-gassed perhaps, but it ran great and reliability was 100%.

Handguard: Once again, the fit and finish is excellent. The picatinny rail on the handguard is nicely machined and perfectly aligns with the pic rail on the upper receiver (no gaps or steps). It also has alignment tabs for easy installation and a retaining screw to prevent forward movement from recoil.

Overall, I am extremely happy with PSA’s premium uppers. I will be buying another for sure.

FN CHF 16” extra chrome 1/7 beast
I built this model with durability in mind. It should shoot 30k rd. It weighs 7.2 lbs. Surefire muzzle brake tames recoil. I brag that it triple taps my preys. It double as a suppressor adapter. It has a PSA nickel boron bcg. The hand guard is the best ever. The QD slots is genius. My Vortex 1x6x24 is versatile with a lifetime warranty. My only dilemma, should I paint it🤙

Good Deal CHF 16" Midlength Upper
Recently got the chance to break in my new upper and am very pleased with it. I shot 120 rounds of 62 grain Federal and 80 rounds of 55 grain Tula. It failed to cycle about 1 in 10 for the Tula for the first half of them, then as it got broken in they cycled fine. No problems with the brass cased ammo at any point. I enjoy it very much and am glad I bought it.
