Can you recommend an inexpensive optic that will drop on this while accommodating a mbus rear back up?

Can the barrel extension and front sight be removed to replace with a m-loc style hand-guard?
Audie H on May 11, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Removing the barrel extension does not make this a SBR- Nobody can sell a gun with a barrel extension that is not permanently affixed if removing that extension would make it an SBR. If he wanted to, he could put a threaded cap on the 1/2-28 and it should still be legit. Any rifle that, without substantial modification, can be made to have a barrel length less than 16 inches from breech to tip is a short barreled rifle. Meaning, this isn't a 14.5" M4 with a birdcage to make it legal. It's a 16" rifle and the overall length of the barrel will still be 16" no matter what you slap on the end unless you make the extension part of the barrel in a permanent fashion.

Can the handguard /front sight be removed?
Daniel S on Aug 7, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Hand guard removal is a simple one person process, be mindful of heavy spring tension and pinching fingers. Front sight removal is best done with proper tools. If you know someone local who could knock the pins out for you the proper way, you would save a lot of frustration and time for maybe a few bucks. You can buy an AR front sight block and front sight tapered punch to do job correctly. If you're not going to be a builder have it done for you.

Good starter AR
I have no regrets on this purchase. It has run flawlessly and is very very accurate, even just shooting with the irons. It is pretty basic but good for someone just starting out. It has a good look to it right out of the box but I did wind up putting Magpul furniture on it eventually. PSA sells the same rifle with these items as standard, and it may be worth the extra money depending upon sale prices and what you want from it. I also put a polished trigger and MBUS sight, as well as a cheap red dot, but functionally otherwise I've left it stock and it'll work great right out of the box. When you get bored with it you can upgrade parts and learn how everything works.

Great rifle, shoots sweet. My only gripe is the original folding stock collapsed after every shot. Either the holes in the buffer tube weren't machined right or the stock was defective......anyway, replaced folding stock with a fixed Magpul and problem solved.

PSA Freedom Rifle M4 clone
Well made, everything looks milspec, no failures of any kind, well worth the money. The only issue I experienced was the holes in the buffer tube were too small for the buttstock pin to fit into. The rifle was unusable, as the recoil collapsed the stock to its most retracted position. As I was on a camping trip. I had to enlarge two of the holes to be able to use it. I will now need to get a milspec tube and replace the one on the rifle. Not a big deal, but annoying. Other than that, it's all good!
