So is it true that this rifle will not cycle steel rds?
Jamie on Jun 6, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Nope. This rifle cycles steel cased ammo fine. If you used laquered sealed rounds be aware that it might start to gum up your bolt face. (I’ve used Wolf Polyformance and Tulammo so far).
I see a sling mount on the front. Where is a good place to attach a 2 point sling to the back of the gun?
Allen P on Jul 2, 2018
The description states Nitride. Does that mean the barrel is nitride coded inside and out? The receiver (upped&lower) looks to be anodized coated. Will the finish match?
JLowe on Jun 29, 2018
Do you have black color of this mid-length gas system complete?
applefarm on Jul 5, 2018
BEST ANSWER: They don't currently show a complete rifle in black MOE. They do offer a build kit with the black mid-length you want. You would need a stripped lower of your choice and a magazine.
Is the buffer tube MILSPEC or Commercial?
Audie C on Jun 5, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Mill-Spec - noted in LOWER description above
Is this NY compliant?
Philip D on Jun 3, 2018
BEST ANSWER: “No”this rifle is not NY compliant
This rifle has been tagged temporarily out of stock for more than 2 months. When will it be available?
Greg R on Jun 12, 2018
BEST ANSWER: These are available in a build kit form. You'll need a stripped lower receiver and a magazine to finish. Not as hard to build as you may think. Watch videos, ask questions and take your time. You can probably find a local builder who wouldn't charge too much.
Can I add a laser to the Freedom rifle?
Tom M on May 16, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Yes, you can add a laser to the PSA Freedom Rifle. However, a red dot sight might be a more appropriate addition.
Is this rifle ready to fire?
Tony W on Jun 5, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Yes. It comes fully assembled except for the rear mbus sight, but the rifle is great!
Is a riser needed for mounting a scope?
Matt M on Jul 4, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I would follow the manufacture's instructions IRT the mount options for the particular optics you are using. Having said that, I mounted a Sig Romeo 4 (or 5 if you wish), and aft of that, the Sig Juliet 4 Magnifier. No risers. All red dot sights (with few exceptions) can align with the A2 fixed sight some AR's have, but keep in mind once ANY magnification is used, it renders the front A2 sight useless. Due to the eye relief on the Juliet 4, I would use a ghost sight aft of the red dot/magnifier, if you have enough space on the rail. You have to rotate the magnifier to the side to flip up the aft ghost sight to align with red dot/front A2 sight. May need to tweak the eye relief to make everything fit to YOUR liking. Hope that helps. Go give it a whirl. Never know until you try.
Can this rifle fire .223 and 5.56?
Seth C on Jun 27, 2018
BEST ANSWER: 1 in 7 twist can fire just about ANY ammo chambered accordingly in 5.56 or .223, not 7.62 x 51, or .308 ammo. The AR-15 ammo is virtually the same except the 5.56 has higher pressures, and needs a rifle that fires 5.56 ammo. Most rifles do now a days. This beast can fire any 5.56 ammo weight, from 80 grain to 55 grain. Better suited for the heavier stuff, in my opinion of course!
Does this rifle have a direct gas system?
Kevin F on Jul 2, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Yes it is a 'GAS IMPINGEMENT' system. 'PISTON DRIVEN' rifle are noticeably higher priced and noted in item description.
Does the flash hider screw on ? Can a suppressor Ben used with this model ?
Kevin H on Jun 7, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Yes, the barrel is threaded and you can replace it with anything that is 1/2x28 threaded

Least Finicky Rifles.
Have been using PSA Rifles since 2012. Have helped numerous co-workers in my previous department build their own rifles to suit. Have worked in gun shop which specialized in tactical type firearms. I would bet my life on a PSA Rifle or build. I ran a torture test from January to September 2014. I would shoot as little as 5 rounds up to 300 in an outing. Only running an oiled patch down barrel and lubing BCG before putting away. Never had a feed, eject, or failure issue. Using brass and steel cased ammo and whatever armorer with separate with. At round 1742 it finally stuck empty shell in chamber, FTE. I ran a dry barrel brush down chamber and oiled bolt. Continued shooting that day, 198 rounds later it stuck the next shell. I finally cleaned it. It maintained accuracy and function through this entire process. You can spend over 3 times as much for a name brand AR, but it won't necessarily be better. I had one I helped build that required me to re-adjust gas block for proper function. Less than 1% of rifles I've assisted with. BUY IT, TRY IT, and FUGET ABOOOUUUT IT!

Great value
PSA makes a great product. This is my first AR and I'm very pleased. I don't have much to compare it to, but it shoots great. Easy to adjust sights. You can't beat the deal and the company is freedom centric.

Dependable, and Accurate. What else do you need?
Fit and finish is excellent. No scratches on her until I took her to the range. I did not do anything besides inspect and function check the rifle before firing. I started with 300 American Eagle with 0 failures. I moved on to two hundred of the Tul brand steel rounds with the same results. I ended the day with around a 100 mixed bag of different SD or HD rounds and she kept going. I will say that I had to raise my front sight post quite a bit initially, but I do that with every rifle I zero so I’m sure that’s just my sight picture. While standing unsupported with the MBUS I was able to get ten rounds off fairly quickly in a 6 inch circle at 25 yards. I’m not sure what else you could want out of a rifle, but I am very happy with this rifle.

PSA mid-length nitride freedom rifle.
I would have rated the rifle higher but I had issues with the rifle short stroking and it would not the chamber the next round. PSA did a great job with customer service and I should be receiving my rifle back tomorrow so I am excited to see how it works with no issues. That being said the rifle was fun to shoot and was surprisingly accurate for the price point. I paired it with a primary arms 1x6 SFP with the ACSS reticle and can hit a steel target at 500 yards with relative ease.

Awesome Rifle and Great Quality!
Very good quality at a very good price. This is an awesome looking rifle that functions flawlessly. Right out of the box I was shooting 1/2" groups at 36 yards after sight in, which was a breeze. Love the 1:7 twist rate also.

Solid buy, well made. Would purchase again.
Purchased May of 2018 and it arrived at my FFL location in the upper midwest a couple days later!

Quality for this price range is fantastic, upper and lower fit together extremely well with no gap showing. I have ran several hundred rounds through it so far with only ONE single malfunction (pretty amazing).

These guns come pretty dry from the factory however (AR's like to be run wet, almost ridiculously wet in fact) ....so before you hit the range, disassemble it and CLP it. You'll be doing yourself a huge favor. Pay special attention to lubing the inside of the bolt carrier and the gas rings on your bolt. The factory fit of these parts rubbing together is pretty tight and you'll need quite a bit of oil at first.

Other than the dry factor from the factory, the pivot pins (that connect the lower and upper) are a little tough to remove initially....once again...CLP the [heck] out of them and you'll be good to go after a few field strips.

Purchased July of 2017, I have fired it on multiple occasions with 0 failure. It is a pleasure to shoot and very well built!
