Will this upper work with a CMMG
Mutant Lower?
tracy on Jan 25, 2020
BEST ANSWER: CMMGs websites states that the mutant lower will only work with a mutant upper. It goes further to say it is not compatible with an AR style upper. This is an AR style upper. So the short answer is no.
I have a PSA ar15 build on an anderson lower with psa lower parts. Can I swap out the ar15 upper for this upper and continue continue to use the lower and not change anything?
Michael L on Feb 2, 2020
It swaps right onto a standard AR-15 lower.
You'll need special mags (I use C-Products), because the tapered 7.62x39 cases stack into the famliar curved "banana".
It's a very accurate (YMMV) upper, I'm very happy with the build quality.
Can this use AK magazines?
VerdinaMan on Oct 26, 2018
BEST ANSWER: NO, AK mags will not work with this upper. You need a standard AR15 lower for this upper. The best 7.62x39 AR15 mags are made by C Products and D&H.

Accurate and silences very well!
I've found the Winchester "Hog Special" 123 gr soft points at Academy (I believe the same as Power Points elsewhere) are consistently shooting MOA or sub MOA with 5 shot groups in my 16" build. Cheap rounds including steel case are right around 2-2.5". I'm no expert shot either, but with a decent rest, this thing is a tack driver.

Super lightweight while still extremely durable. Bought this and the PSA Blackhawk classic complete lower... put it together and ready to roll. Never jammed, tight grouping at 200 yards. I recommend 30 round mags, lots of fun to shoot.

Unbelievably accurate
Can’t believe it. 1.5” group at 100 yards with a 3x Prism scope. 10” steel plate at 200yrds is 90+% hit rate. Even 5” plate is possible. This is with wolf and Tula ball ammo. Just make sure to keep the chamber clean. Did get a stuck case after maybe 500 rounds, but that was my fault. Cleaned the chamber and problem solved.

psa ar47
revived upper in excellent condition and am pleased with it shot about 500 rounds through it using 10 round magazine. no failures to feed or jams. wolf ammo gave very high standard deviation through chronograph and equally poor groups. garbage in garbage out. shot good groups and decent standard deviation with quality ammo only used s&b were about 1 1/2'' still have not shot any other factory ammo to see what shoots the best yet. I had the extractor fail on the wolf ammo. palmetto promptly sent me a new one and have not had another problem. yes i am still shooting cheep ammo through it. the cheep Russian ammo works fine for shooting free hand steel targets it gives acceptable accuracy at an affordable price just do not expect target grade accuracy out of that type om ammo. great for economical shooting. on the ar platform. I also have a psa ak47 great gun no problems just i like the ar platform better.

Okay if you like tinkering and shooting on the cheap.
I apologize for how long this review is but I figure all the details i can give will help. So I originally bought this as a plinking/whitetail gun with fairly low expectations considering all the bad attention that ar15s chambered in 7.62x39 get, I had shopped around a good bit and figured that for 300$ it was worth the risk. The upper showed up quick and cosmetically good to go. Right out of the box it ran fine with the 10 and 28 round cpd mags as well as some 20 round asc mags I picked up later, however it was dramatically over gassed and the recoil was uncomfortably heavy. After about 100 rounds I realized the handguard was walking off the barrel nut, so I applied more thread locker and torqued the screws back down. At 350 rounds the extractor snapped off and left me with a dead rifle, after a quick call to psa they said they would send me a bolt head repair kit that after 8 months of waiting has yet to show up which was disappointing, but I figured it'd be good to have another spare so i ordered a second after market extractor as soon as I got off the phone with them. Anyway once I got the upper back up and running I ran through about 1k rounds of mixed steel and brass cased ammo and it ran flawlessly with everything I fed it soft points, hollow points, fmj it ate it all alike with no hiccups whatsoever until about the 1500 round mark the extractor I bought decided to break. So I decided I'd try to fix the gasing/recoil by adding an ar10 buffer spring (on a fixed a2 stock), a psa adjustable gas block and an surefire pro comp which has the gun shooting flat and almost smoother than my 5.56 guns. Ive had zero issues with light strikes, failer to feed, fire, or eject, I've run it with both milspec and after market triggers, but I've mostly run it with a geissele ssa-e. The accuracy was about what I expected with cheap surplus ammo printing out 1-2" groups and good quality brass case holding 1" and under if you do your part. At the end of the day I really do like how the upper runs now, but considering I'm on my 3rd extractor and I had to put about 150$ upgrades into it to get it to shoot how I want it may or not be for everyone.

GREAT addition too my AR's
I love it. I have it mated to a standard PSA lower and I use C-PRODUCTS 7.62X39 MAGS AND IT WORKS PERFECTLY.

Did my research and choose correctly
I did my research about AR47s and their apparent problems.... palmetto built an awesome product to combat those issues and haven’t had any problems other than a few feed issues that are entirely mag related (c-products mags are far superior to promag) would definitely recommend to those interested

What a deal
Always wanted to try a 7.62x39 upper but heard too many horror stories about getting them to run. Ran into this upper and did some research on it before I ordered. PSA did it right when they put this upper together. A great buy with zero issues using c mags.
