Good Value for 308 Upper
I bought the 20 inch rifle length and the 18 inch mid length uppers to compare and keep one. Kept the 20 inch for range purposes. The barrel has a thicker profile from the barrel nut to the gas block. So yes it is heavier. If I want to use it for hunting I will buy or build a short light weight upper. Before shooting I added a Miculek muzzle break and limsaver pad to the magpul stock on a pre-assembled lower. This upper is intended for my wife to shoot it so needs to be easy on the shoulder. The upper was dry so I put some lubricant on the bolt carrier and other minor moving parts. Cleaned the barrel and went to the range. Easy to shoot and not a single issue with the gun. Put approximately 60 rounds through it. Brass ejects as expected. First time out tried two types of ammo. Inexpensive PPU ammo sprayed like a mad skunk. Inexpensive Freedom ammo grouped roughly 1.5 moa at 100 yards for the most part with a few flyers. Accuracy was greatly affected by the looong creep of the trigger that came installed on the lower. Trigger breaks clean but its a hard long pull. So plan on a new trigger as well if you are looking at mostly range time. I will be putting a Hiperfire EPT3 trigger in this one before shooting it again. I expect the groups to shrink with the new trigger along with using better (heavier) ammo like Federal 168gr gmm. This Gen II rifle had non of the problems associated with the Gen I rigs that so many have written about. For roughly $800 I put together a very nice 308 gun. I will look at a dedicated scope for this rifle to replaced the borrowed Bushnell AR 3-12x40 223 model I pulled from another upper. For 300 yard or beyond shooting the magnification will have to be bumped up a bit.

Good 2 Go!
These PA-10 rigs are more rifle than others costing twice as much.....save your money and buy one of these (if it's in stock). You're going to need the extra money saved for some nice glass......because this bad boy will really "reach out and touch someone"!!!!
