A Great Pistol Especially for a New Shooter
I (along with my brothers and Dad) purchased this pistol last December as a Christmas gift for my Mom who at the age of 68 suddenly decided to try out target shooting for the first time in her life. After trying my Glock 19 and Browning Hi-Power on our first couple gun range trips and seeing that the recoil of a 9mm was a bit too much for her to have a fun time with we decided a .22LR pistol would probably be the ideal caliber gun for her. After reading up on as many of the .22LR pistols out there and finding as many user reviews as I could I decided the M&P 22 would be a great choice for her (finding it on sale here at PSA for the great price of $260 didn't hurt either). After 9 months with it now I'm glad to say that I chose the right gun. She absolutely loves it in no small part because as such a soft shooting gun in no time she was relaxed and comfortably plinking away without any of the anxiety or fear of anticipating a harsh recoil (considering her age her small hands and the fact that she had never shot a firearm in her whole life until last summer 9mm was indeed a bit harsh for her to really enjoy).

When I picked up the gun at my FFL I was surprised by how well it was built and the quality of the case it came in (the only downside being that it only included one magazine). My only concern initially from a couple of the customer reviews I'd read was that it might be picky about what ammo it liked (as some semi-auto rim-fire guns can be). But so far with about 300 or 400 rounds through it of several different brands of ammo (both jacketed and non-jacketed standard velocity and high velocity) it's worked flawlessly. And after trying it out myself a couple times on a few of our range trips I can honestly say it's a really fun pistol to shoot. I'm actually a tiny bit tempted to buy one for myself (if only there weren't so many other toys already on my "wish list").

The service from PSA was great too. The ordering process was quick and painless and they had it shipped to my FFL within a couple days of me placing the order (in plenty of time to get it wrapped up for Christmas day). I would definitely recommend both the Smith & Wesson M&P-22 and Palmetto State Armory to anyone looking for a firearm or accessories and ammo.

Nice 22
I have had an M&P22 for about a year. Feels just like an M&P9 but a little lighter. Never had a jam or FTF from a variety of ammo brands that I have accumulated over the years. Unfortunately I paid more locally for this gun than Palmetto State Armory sells it for. I just got the M&P22 Compact from PSA at a smokin' price. I hope it shoots as well.
