11.5 psa ar pistol questions

Good morning all, couple noob questions for whoever can help:

ar charging handls the same for ar pistols and rifles?

are bolt carrier groups ?

i just bought the 11.5 ar psa pistol with carry handle , anyone have long term use/ownersip to review ?

is there a picatinny rail under the carry handle ?

Is this dependable enough for a truck gun ?

Thanks everyone !!

Yes on charging handles and BCGs being the same for ar pistols and rifles.

Yours will make a fine truck gun. As for the carry handle, if it has big screws on one side, then it is attached via a Pic rail and can be removed.

GuitarGuy !! still coming in the clutch after years! Thank you sir. I asked because the ch seemed a tad flimsy compared to others I’ve used but your seal of approval is good enough for me. Figured a truck gun by nature should be squared away more than any range toys.

the charging handle is fine, however if you wish to upgrade to another you can as well. i like to upgrade all of mine to ambi handles, usually a raptor or some such style

10-4, thank you !

You didn’t ask but the real difference Under the hood as it were is recoil spring and buffer, if you ordered an 11.5” AR pistol then it will come with the right spring & buffer for that barrel. An AR rifle with say a 20” barrel would likely need a different spring & buffer due to the change in pressure the same round produces in different lengths of barrel.

Can’t tell if serious.

Chances are that the OP’s pistol came with a carbine length receiver extension and a ‘carbine’ buffer. The buffer is technically wrong for an overgassed 11.5 but works great with rifle length gas systems that are lower pressure due to port location (while still using a carbine length extension, obviously)

11.5 would be best served with a H, or even H2, buffer. It will probably run just fine with the carbine buffer though.

No AR gas system ,regardless of length, needs a hydraulic buffer

It’s a generic pick of a tube buffer & spring’

If you intend to suppress it, expect to tune it with heavier buffer weights. I think i had to do a H4 or worse to get mine to tune (along with an adjustable block). I eventually relented and went back up to (i think) 13”.
