300 black out

I would still change buffer.

That’s not going to stop it from slapping the retainer pin

Ok, so that sounds like a tolerancing defect. The back of the BCG in the upper should keep the buffer barely off the retaining pin. Especially with your buffer being pretty far forward, I think I’d contact customer service and get warranty service. They’ll be able to see the buffer damage.

I completely agreed, this is a factory error. I wonder how many are defected or it is just a random error.

I was running that on mine’s from PSA and it ran just fine, later I replaced it with the kynshot hydraulic system. My .300 is basically silence when charging, this thing is unreal. I have another one in my first 308 build and will be buying another one for the PSA .308 I just acquired. It reduces the recoil by a minimum of 30%.

I look at the last pic and just checked all my AR’s and none of the buffers protrude that far back, maybe is because the pic angle, but it looks pretty far back to me. I might be wrong.

It will slow things down and may mitigate the damage. Another option is an offset retaining pin. Its such a common issue on AR’s that several places make/sell these. Here is KAK’s version:

Im going to try the offset pin because their warranty department is giving me the run around big time. I just have to get the tool to take the buffer off and a punch for the castle nut. I thought I did all my research before but an AR but when this started happening I didn’t realize all the things I would need to either repair or upgrade things in it

before anything is done, i’d simply try a heavier buffer. if that didnt fix it, then i’d go with an offfset pin. but thats just my .02 worth.
