Hey everyone, would just like to ask for any and everyone’s thoughts. How off would my zero for 55g be if I switched over to 62g . I appreciate all answers
Interestingly, I just did this experiment today at the range and it was nominal at best at 25 yds.
You can run through ballistic calculators online if you want a really specific answer, but in my experience it’s not noticeable. At least, I’m not a good enough shot for it to be. Going up to 75 or 77gr you will have to adjust zero.
You won’t notice much of a difference within a 100 yards. Once you start to push the 62gr out past 100+ yards without re-zeroing for the 62gr, the impacts will really start to open up wide, and mostly your normal hold/ranging will be falling short on the heavier 62gr. Of course, take in mind that Temp/Humidity/Wind/Barrel and Twist Rate and shooter doing his/her part (fundamentals) will all play a major roll here. I’m not saying you can’t go out with the 62gr pill and shoot enough rounds that YOU know exactly where to estimate each and every shot placement, but it will definitely take a lot of time and mostly trigger time in different weather conditions.
yeah, it’s going to depend on your ranges. If you are just target shooting 50-150 yards, you won’t see much difference except maybe out at the farthest distance. Any further than that and you will need to recalculate and take notes. I switched from 55 to 62 and only shoot to 100 yards. I saw no difference.
Thank you guys!!
