I would like to do some short videos on some of the limited ammo shooting we do. . . just to give others ideas. Really don’t think I’ll have the time though, Work looks to be 55-60 hours a week well into fall, and I have a Bear, Deer and elk tag to scout for + after 10 years my wife got her Pronghorn tag!!! I don’t think my limiting factor is going to be ammo. . . .it’s Time!
It’s terrible still lol prices are insane and alot of ammo is out there. Cant shoot cuz I dont make much money. Work is slow. Would love to buy normal priced ammo and shoot my guns. I’m always on a budget and can’t afford to buy price gouged ammo.
Just sucks…places online are selling by 1000rd cases and plenty of them. Maybe some brands arent coming in as much as others not as well know known but I’m sure there is reasons behind that. Still, if there is that much available prices shouldnt be what they are.
I have some on hand, not an extreme amount but I’m not participating in this fad. I’ll wait it out and save my money for another gun. Assuming it goes back. If it doesnt then we are on our way down a dark dark path.
Greed and hypocrisy is screwing us and most are contributing to it. It’s purely sickening.
Thanks for flagging my post of truth and honesty. Thought that’s what was most important. Guess not…
Tons of ammo out there. Tons. 1000rd cases all day of popular cals. Certain stuff still hard to come by. Really isnt a shortage, mainly just dealers making bookoo bucks off of us.
I’m not participating in this. I have hope it will return to normal.
Just sucks prices of ammo and everything else is determined by politics. Is this not painting a picture…?
Your post was automatically flagged because you said “S**t.” It’s something the system does automatically when it detects a swear word. It should be unflagged once the mods get on here since you didn’t break any of the forum rules. It’s happened to me a few times when referencing bad products/situations and the mods cleared it up.
While this is the internet, it is also the forum for a specific company and is therefore the image of that company. Yes, certain words automatically get flagged. You have the choice to edit and the system should have sent you a message.
My suggestion is to be as professional as you can be. Let your posts be a reflection of your character…not as ammunition…which we know the left will use against us.
I have never been in a rush to buy factory ammo because I reload for everything I shoot except .22LR. Fact is, I have few firearms that have seldom, if ever, tasted factory ammo. At that, I have seldom bought less than a case of 5k .22LR except for some speciality target ammo. I have a pretty good stock of primers (another one I always purchased in 5k lots). The last gun show I went to a few weeks ago with a beginner friend, they were getting as much for 1000 primers as I paid for a case! Yikes! If the vendors had to rely on me they would all be in deep poo, that’s for sure. My only recent purchases have been some coated lead bullets (MO Bullet Co., who’s prices haven’t changed much, if at all). I can cast and lube/size my own but I hate doing it, so I am trying the (new to me) plastic coated bullets for the first time. I still shoot as much and whenever I get the urge to head out to my backyard range. No shortages here! Only thing is, I really wish I’d of bought a whole lot more of the Russian & Chinese 7.62 x 39 ammo when it was $89 for 1600 rounds, delivered to my door! Those days are, alas, gone forever! I’ve a few rounds of Jing-An and a few Russian “bears” left but nothing like before. Sigh. If only I’d of had the foresight… oh well.
Cheers,
crkckr
Yesterday a guy at work was bragging about buying 2 boxes (the limit) of 7.62x39 at a local gun shop, going outside changing his shirt, going in and buying 2 more boxes, having his Girl Friend drive down and buy 2 more boxes. 120 rounds for like $60 + tax + all that silliness.
I just showed him where for $139 + shipping he could get 500 better quality 7.62x39 delivered to his door
The panic buying seems to be letting up in my area. It is good to see it on the shelves. I’ll wait to buy until prices return closer to normal though. I did sell some 380 to a neighbor who was in need.
I live about an hour from an Ammunition Manufacturer-Georgia Arms. Aside from an increase in prices there was no severe disruption in purchasing ammunition. I shot about 1k rounds a month in 2020. I am shooting more now. I don’t hoard as much as I do enjoy shooting.
Personally i just started with 5.56 i wait til i find some on sale buy a few boxes then wait til another good sale comes around. Ive gathered a fair amount and still get more now and then. I got enough to fill all my mags A few times. So i don’t feel to much pressure until i go to range and train.
Hadn’t gone looking in a while but stopped by an Academy yesterday (specifically at a location I haven’t been to in probably at least a decade) and it was pretty slim pickins (they did have some steel cased 380 though). Went to a couple different ones closest to me today and wow. Spam cans of 7.62x39 and .223, bulk .45 ACP and .556, ammo cans of 00 buckshot, creedmoor grendel legend bushmaster, a good handful or two .308/7.62x51 varieties, 30-30 win mag 7mm-08 you name it.
I may or may not have taken advantage of their inventories.
For the first time in well over a year, I’m not shopping for anything. I haven’t been to ammo seek all day!! I have nearly as much factory ammo as I had a year and a half ago. Check your local gun trading sites. Even though I paid up to 8 cents for some of my primers, I have them. Same with powder, I paid an extra $5 a pound for some of it, but I’m still shooting 150 rounds a week(or more).
I logged into my local site a few months back for the first time in years and years. It used to be awesome with deals to be had and traded for. Now it’s nothing but scammers, scalpers, and all that I can guess it’s another form of scalpers selling glocks and the like to people who are either underage or wouldn’t pass a background check at 50-100% markup. I’m glad yours is still good. I won’t mention mine because well I wouldn’t anyways but especially because they’re in the PSA affiliate program.
I constantly compare prices online and in local stores. I know what things should cost as compared to ammogeddon.
I generally try to support who has the best prices, but still spread my money around, especially to my local stores. I think it’s safe to say that everyone in the firearms industry has felt the pinch, online and brick and mortar.
Lately I’m seeing a lot more availability, and lower prices. I generally buy the two box limit because that’s the same or less than I usually buy.
I do however refuse to pay inflated prices. We went without “extra” ammo for many, many months. And there was no shooting…
With the exception of a few thousand rounds of .22LR, I’ve only got 300 hundred rounds of 12ga and 9mm, 150 of 300 Blackout, and like 100 of .38 and .357.
Between myself and my two boys, it’s a constant hunt and gather of ammo.
I’m not sure if my eclectic taste in guns is a help or a hinderance in times like these. On the one hand, I have guns with ammo that I haven’t shot in years, so dragging those safe queens out and shooting them isn’t even really an affect on my “Stock Pile” as these calibers aren’t guns I feel I NEED to have rounds available for. On the other hand If I was more streamlined in the calibers I own, it would be easier to be sure I had enough ammo for every gun.
I streamlined my Muzzle Loaders, I have One .44 and One .50. . .everything else is .32 Caliber or .54 Caliber, a small stack of lead, molds to make .54 Round balls & .32 Round Balls FFFG powder and a few tins of caps is all I need to be “Stockpiled” for a whole arm load of guns.
I’ve done a lot of load development lately. I had #8 of Russian surplus powder(no load data) that I’d been saving for a rainy day, it rained. And I bought a couple of new powders that I hadn’t used before, no load data either. After a bunch of testing I got everything matched up except 1 powder that was just too bulky for any of my applications I managed to trade that for some Lever Evolution. Everybody’s been loving the Lever Evolution in 6mm ARC and I have 2 of those!! All in all, it’s nice to take a little time off from “constantly searching”.
I’ve been stocking up for a long time before the china virus attack.
I saw this coming. But living behind enemy lines IS enlightening.
As for prices today, down a bit from the outrageous prices but still ridiculous IMHO
