AR-10 Compatibility Success Stories

I have a DPMS G2 rifle, as well as a few Palmetto State PA10 rifles but I am no aficionado and don’t know what’s interchangeable among all the .308 pattern AR’s . I would love a compatibility guide of some sort.

I know this is years later or something…but I am interested in a .243 as well and have a spare pa 10 lower. Which bca .243 upper did you get, if i could ask?

Not sure the model #, but it was a complete side charging upper with 20” 243 barrel.

The BC upper fit my PA10 lower just fine other than the play in the front retaining pin seems a little excessive. I did, however, have other issues. The gun would pierce primers and after three to four rounds I would start getting FTF because of brass particles around the firing pin. Also, the accuracy of the barrel was not up to my expectations. I tried several factory and multiple hand loads in the gun. Best I could do was 3” group @ 100yds.

I’m still running the PA10 lower with the BC side charging upper. I swapped out the barrel with a Wilson Combat 16” 243. I also swapped out the bolt and firing pin with WC components. The gun now runs flawlessly and exceded my expectations for accuracy. With a little trial and error with hand loads, I was able to get sub 1” groups @ 200yds.

i bought a pa10 gen3 lower, then i got an ar10 upper from palmetto state armory and ammo from some weird surplus reman type place that made 147gr fmj… pretty sweet

Well that’s a bummer. It’d be nice if PSA introduced some other caliber that did fit their tolerances of the PA10.

I tend to think BCA and PSA seem to just fit together. Why and HOW I can’t say BUT they do.
In fact, I have a BCA 300 AAC 16" upper that fits better on a PSA Stealth Lower than the 7.5 BCA Upper/Lower combo I got a few days later.Go figure.
I’d prefer to stick with PSA all-the-way for the exception, they never have in stock at the retail outlets like I need AND it might take awhile to receive something once you order it…
BCA has been literally overnight to two days max in shipping.

I wish psa would bring back the DPMS G2 line

it’s wildly true, except with the ar10 you need to have both psa gen3 lower and upper receiver every other part from the ar10 aftermarket fits even the bcg

and circle back on the first statement, i got some bca lowers to put on the psa uppers that were a little lose and you guessed it tight and snug with silent bcg

Silent BCG?. You mean they didn’t fire?..
Anyway,AR-10 needs to go the route of AR-15…Standardized. Either everyone goes Gen 3 OR PSA and others offer Gen 1 and Gen 3 lowers.
BTW, I prolly wouldn’t buy one BUT I find every AR-10 I’ve ever picked up to be unbalanced EXCEPT for the Great Lakes one AND it in turn, almost felt too light meaning quite a bit of felt recoil.
I’m “thinking” if I were to go the 308 route, I’ll just go with an SFAR from a warranty and atleast pieces/parts standpoint. I don’t have an interest in “Needmore” or any other big cartridge ..OR, a Sprinfield M1A…
