Building my next toy. What’s the general consensus on the best pistol length? Pics if you gottem.

Good luck on a consensus. Most would say you need at least 10.5 (including me). Every fraction of an inch beyond that gives you a little more velocity and a little less drop. Of course the closer you get to 16", the more you are defeating the purpose of having a pistol.
Edit: this is assuming 5.56/.223

Best all around results from a 5.56 will be in the 11" to 12" barrel. Anything shorter then you are giving up to much velocity and anything longer you start to defeat the purpose of the pistol build. The scenario on the 300bo is different because it uses magnum pistol power or fast burning rifle power to get a full burn in a 8" or 9" barrel without really giving up much velocity. If you will be shooting supersonic rounds you will probably pick up some more velocity out of a 12" barrel but again starts to defeat the purpose of the pistol build. 300bo really shines shooting with a 8" barrel when suppressed using subsonic rounds. The first pic is a 300bo pistol that I built for a good friend of mine. The second pic is my 300bo SBR with an 8" barrel. The third pic is my 5.56 SBR with a 12" CHF barrel.

I like anywhere between 10.5-12.5 … if you want something for in the vehicle and up close maybe a 8”. Strictly a toy then whatever you can find
