Built my first AR, and am having major issues with my PSA upper. Jams in feed ramps almost every cycle, whether manual or not. Pics and vid included

Good to hear on the RMA stuff! Just submitted… we’ll see how that goes  I see my 18" .223 Wylde upper is OOS, so that’s a bummer… guess we’ll see what they can do.

I can try my dad’s lower too, so just a 1-1 swap and test might be in order, if I have time before I hear from PSA.

My money it’s the bolt/bolt carrier. Pull it and give it some good love. Good luck🤞

I tried one last full disassembly, cleaning, lubing, of the BCG… no joy.

RMA ticket is processed, I have my UPS label etc., so hopefully that takes care of it!

my money is on they polish the feed ramps. Maybe add a bit of radius to those sharp corners.

To me the photo clearly show that both feed ramps are incomplete machining, especially the left side is still square and capturing the bullet. Just send a CS request with photos for replacment do to manufacture defect. Dont try and fix it as their is obviously too much work (cutting) needs to be done. PSA should be happy to get it returned for quality control.

Outstanding thread! :+1:

Hope PSA gets you squared away quickly. And what a great way to spend time with your Pops.

Hopefully that issue was a quality control issue and not “blem” acceptable. In any event since its an un-serialized part youll get quick turn around and probably a completely new upper…
If someone had given me that upper id probubly use a whole set of progressive rat-tail files to cut the ramps, followed by pollishing using a dummy cartrige attached to a flexible drill shaft on a hand drill. Allot of work even for free, but the only reason id do it myself…
Please inform us on the completed resolution.

This was not purchased as a “blem” item, so I would sure hope that’s not the case!
Looks like my upper is supposed to arrive there Wednesday, so I guess we’ll see

Well that’s great, but I don’t have more $$ at this point  so hopefully they fix me up

I had the same exact thing happen to me with my PSA upper. I sent in last week on a RMA and just received word this morning that they actually ended up swapping out my barrel. That might be where you end up. Just a heads up.

Good to know! Maybe they need to have a chat with their barrel QC team
