Correct Buffer Weight

Since it is blowback, you can try a stiffer spring or a heavier buffer. I use 8oz buffers myself.

I thought the articles on blowback9.com were an interesting read. He has some youtube videos on the 9mm PCC posted also under the same name.

Edit- Did not remember that this was the thread where blowback9 posted a link to his site already so my post is probably redundant.

Welcome to the forums @turin

Stiffer spring will make felt recoil worse, believe it or not. Try swapping from a .308 carbine to 5.56 carbine and the difference is very noticable.

Its all physics. I prefer a stiffer spring because it slows down the mass so you dont get such a sharp felt recoil. What i feel recoil wise is going to be the same in terms of the physics no matter the spring. I prefer to not get the sharp kick by slowing it down and dragging it out. Its still the same amount of force. Iirc, a reduced power load is the only way to truly reduce recoil.

8oz? I just got 3 tungsten weights to attempt a fix on a 9mm AR carbine that FTF. I guess that’s not going to solve the issue if you’re talking 8oz… :person_shrugging:

Yes, i use 8 oz.

Excellent advice.

I run 8oz but with weights inside. The solid ones can cause bolt bounce as I found out can cause and obd if your bumping.

I want to try this

Blowback9 reviewed the Maxim bearing delay system about a year ago. He said it worked but made the gun hard to charge, took around 30lbs of force to pull the charging handle. He said it felt pretty similar to either his GRS, or a CMMG Banshee RDB, He later compared it to a Scheel roller delayed buffer and an MP5 and said that while the MP5 was the best, the Scheel setup was a close second. I have a Banshee and it’s noticeably less recoil than my straight blowback guns. If the Scheel is better, it might easily justify the $350 price of v2.0 given what a Banshee upper costs.

I use the bottom one in this picture

I like the looks of that set-up.

That was my inspiration for one.

One of those 5 variations are in all of my ARs

Welcome to the forums Judge… glad to have you.

Like the other captured buffer springs, those need a new bolt that isn’t plugged with the weight or the weight removed. I would love to see if someone has done this and the results. I have short stroked my 9 with PCC 3 Stage Air Cushion Recoil System AR-9mm | Taccom3g but of course still have port pop suppressed running 147g subs that I would like to eliminate.

I have the PSA AR-V 8” and love it. Had an issue this weekend and looking for some help.
I’ve probably put 1500 rounds through it with zero problems until yesterday. I was testing a friends suppressor on my AR-V and after about 75 rounds I had a round fire when not in full battery. Since it’s never happened before I am assuming it had to do with the suppressor. I will be putting a suppressor on it full time and wonder if anyone has experience with this gun and suppressor use ? Maybe a different buffer would help ? Thanks in advance.

Sounds like you might have had a slam fire. What buffer are you using?

Just the standard buffer that came in the gun. I believe it’s a one piece solid buffer.
