Fairly common occurrence you’ve described
Post a picture of the face of the bolt. It will tell if it’s an early gen bolt. Just curious, did you have fully loaded mags?
Thanks for the reply. Here is a pic of the bolt face. No, Mags were not full, Only 5 rounds in them.
Took another look at it. I don’t think it’s the bolt or feed ramp. I read others talking about no feed taper on the barrel and sure enough, there is a flat face for the round to slam into instead of a matching taper. No wonder flat nose or hollow point won’t load. The sharp edge on the feed ramp is well below the round in the mag so that’s causing no issues. If I let the bolt ease closed it will just flip the round up every time. I sent this info with pics to the shop to convey to PSA tomorrow. I’m guessing back to the factory it will go.
Oh, The marks on the ammo in the previous pic are not from the feed ramp but from the bolt slamming into it
Bolt is traveling too fast. A heavier buffer/spring will solve that. As for the feed ramp, most pcc’s are meant to run fmj unless you change the cone like Rudy at Macon Armory does.
Thanks for the info. Only running FMJ is not an issue for me. Hopefully I’ll get some direction next week when the dealer talks with PSA. Thanks again.
Bolt traveling too fast?
You need to go actually fire it before sending it back. You also should not use live ammo but instead snap caps to see about feeding.
@GuitarGuy You are absolutely right. I need to find a place to live fire it and I have ordered some all brass actual weight dummy rounds. As to a heavier buffer, I see so many posts on this. What would you suggest as a replacement for an otherwise factory build?
KAK heavy buffer.
Thanks again @GuitarGuy , should I go with the 8 oz or jump right up to the 10 oz. ?
I would start with 8. You also can upgrade to a stiffer spring if necessary. Most folks I know use the 8oz.
Outstanding !!! Thank you sir. Order Placed
@GuitarGuy you were absolutely correct, I needed to fire it. I met a gentleman who let me test function on his property. I lubed it up good and ran (20) 115 FMJ from 2 different mfg and 2 different mags. 40 rounds total, slow and as fast as I could pull the trigger. Not 1 fail at all. Got home to clean and check for any marks that might show it was over stroking and it looked great. It was pretty snappy, I’m assuming the 8 oz extended buffer will calm that a bit. As is, I’m very pleased.
Thanks again for all your help
Good deal. I think the 8oz buffer will help you out. Should it be too much, you can always remove a weight and/or combine weights from two different buffers.
What would be an indication of to much weight. Or too long a buffer?
It doesnt feed.
