Anyone else having issues with defensive rounds? Tried 4 different types, they would jam on me at different times, but always by 5th or 6th round. Sent to PSA and they say one of the ammo I used runs flawlessly at their test site (Hornaday Critical Duty). I am using the factory PSA AK-V 9X19MM U9 35 ROUND MAGAZINE. Has anyone had any success with running defense rounds consistently without jams? What ammo or magazine works for you? Has anyone bought another barrel to fix this issue? I would like to know, IF NEEDED, it will cycle.
I’m having a similar problem getting 5.56 mags to work with 350 Legend.
They have the same base size, BUT 350 Legend is not tapered.
What I’m trying today - filing down the business end (front) of the magazine about 1/10 inch.
Suggested by someone on MidwayUSA forums, it was their fix, and it worked.
Could you post a picture of the inside of the chamber on the 9 mm, showing the surfaces that are involved in guiding the bullet to the chamber ?
Yes, I will post pics when I receive it back from PSA.
Did you buy it complete or is it a home built (as in you bought the receivers and put in a non-PSA barrel)?
Complete
Since PSA has tested it (successfully) with the same ammo your using…next culprit to look at would be the magazine. I had trouble with a PCC running reliably. Turned out to be magazines. Of the eight mags (same brand & model) only three of them would function reliably. I was busy so I never went back to investigating why the other 5 would induce malfunction. My theory was spring tension….because all else was equal.
Suggest you try a few different magazines brands even different mags of the same brand you have now.
Also…. I’ve always recommended that you do your test fires with a partner who can video (up close) the ejection port area. In the “Slow-Mo” mode…It is remarkable what you will be able to see to help you determine what is causing your malfunction. Good luck.
Welcome @razorblade21 Are you using the PSA mags? What types of HP ammunition are you using?
Hey! I am using Hornaday Duty 135gr, Speer Gold Dot 135gr, Hornaday Critical Defense 115gr, Hornaday Critical Defense Lite 100gr and Norma Safeguard 115gr. All will jam after a few rounds.
I have 3 PSA AK-V 9X19MM U9 35 ROUND MAGAZINES.
Note: They ALL jam with the point of the bullet, higher than the hole.
can you post some pics of the gun and the feedramp?
Can you please post some pics like @GuitarGuy mentioned? Thanks!
PSA is sending it back, should be today. When received, I’ll take the pics and post.
Random question…did you lube it up really good?
Great question, yes. I break down, clean and lube all my news guns before using. It is surprising how dirty new guns are from manufacturing process. I am also a clean freak and clean after ever visit to the range. Hoping to get the gun back today, and will post pics.
Have you shot it since getting it back?
I just received it back. I’m going to clean and lube. I’ll go to the range in the next few days, fire it and report back. Not sure if I can use a tripod to video on phone.
Good luck! Let us know
Correct me if I’m wrong… but isn’t it hit or miss for most 9mm pcc’s to cycle defensive rounds consistently?
As I remember handguns cycle them reliable because of the tilting barrel when loading but obviously pcc’s don’t do that so the flat nose is more likely to get hung up on the feed ramp?
