Do you care to share what got messed up, and how you resolved it?
This was my first lower parts kit:

At the time, I got a good deal. It’s actually $10 cheaper right now! I’d recommend this.
I paired this 10.5" with it:

The upper was quite a bit cheaper when I bought it.
No regrets on this configuration, and now my brother is going to buy it from me and I’ll make a couple of bucks on it.
Hello, yeah I bought regular lower for the 10.5 making it extremely illegal. Sonibhad to buy another uper for the first lower and a pistol lower for the 10.5 so it was good because it gave me an excuse to buy a second gun. The 10.5 with the Romeo are perfect I haven’t had any issues with it at all. I’m now looking to find an optic for my 16" any recommendations
I bought a stripped lower back before the election and have been in a budget bind since then for how to finish it out (my first build). I’ve been eyeing that very kit to complete my rifle. Any gotchas a newb builder would benefit from knowing?
If the lower doesn’t have a built in trigger guard… be VERY careful installing the hinged types !!
Those “ears” on a hinged trigger guard lower break VERY easily if not installed carefully.
This photo from the internet… shows what I mean.

Thanks for the warning! Once I scrape together the funds (4 kids in college so it might not be today) I’m looking to build this out to a functional boom-stick. Seeing a pic of a ruined lower is a graphic reminder to go slow. Much appreciated!
You definitely want one of these thingies, the front takedown pin is the most frustrating step for first time builders (experienced ones too!!). I like to press the trigger guard pins in with duct tape wrapped channel locks, bolt catch release pin too, I don’t really like tapping on aluminum even with a soft hammer. Me too – can’t wait to assemble
Its funny, I bought my first lower from Palmetto and thought I would just buy parts from around the net and build an awesome AR, but I just ended up buying everything from Palmetto because they had everything I wanted to build it!
I also used the PA-15 as my first build a few years ago. Rifle shoots great. Highly recommend.
I have an AR-9 and AR-10, so now it’s time for an AR-15. PSA is where I plan to go for that and this kit looks like what I need.
Anderson Lower (purchased at local gun show), PSA 16" 5.56 NATO 1:7 Midlength Nitride 13.5" Lightweight M-LOK MOE EPT Rifle Kit W/ MBUS Sight Set, Vortex Strikefire II 4 MOA Red Dot. Wish I lived in SC so I could get my lowers from PSA. Great build and if you watch the sales you can’t beat the prices.
I am new to the scene as well, any input would be awesome as to what the best first time build would be, thanks in advance.
I don’t think there is a “best” build, it is just whatever you want in your AR.
pistol vs rifle?
budget vs quality?
target vs tactical?
… and on forever with the AR system.
A major consideration nowadays is what is available.
What is available that is the truest statement i have heard in a while, thanks for the info though.
Bought my first lower from a local sports shop. Everything else from Palmetto. Great products and price. THX.
