Just a question as to what dictates the availability of certain PSA Stripped Lowers?
I’ve purchased a number of these over the last few years. To be exact
M4A1. X 5
M4. X 3
M16A2 X 2
M16A4 X 1 if I remember correctly?
I’ve assembled a few meme’s like the Israeli 1947 and the Mad Dog Mattis Lower.
I understand why the M4A1 shows up on the Daily Deals more often than say the M4…the A1 is current and Auto beats Burst in any popularity contest…but what dictates the rest? Does it take an out pouring of requests or what?
I have another A2 to complete and the last PSA I bought was not from PSA direct … and I paid dearly for that. I cant imagine inventory just sitting on any variant if the prices remain consistent as they have over the years.
I’m aware of all the Harrington and Richardson products. I cant praise enough the time and effort put forth to make this happen. I just hope this doesn’t take away from the Economical line we’ve all grown to appreciate.
Please make others available beyond the M4A1 and the Occasional M4. I willing to bet an affordable M16A1 Lower with simple Government Property markings would be a huge hit , even without the exact details of it’s H&R brothers.
I think H&R will mainly be the retro line. As for the other lowers, they pop up occasionally but are not as popular as the M4. PSA, like any company (especially in this economy) is going to make what sells.
I’m a big fan of 20" ARs and appreciate the A2 lowers PSA occasionally sells. I also like the A4 lowers. But like Guitar Guy said, PSA mostly makes what sells and that means M4 style lowers.
Seems there is an M16A4 Clone alternative out there now.
AIM Surplus sent an email out this evening with an offering from Aero Precision, another High Volume producer of AR parts.
They are marketing theirs as a Complete Lower at $274.99 . The markings are M16A4 with Property of USA…not as authentic looking as PSA but an alternative.
Like I stated and my own buying patterns support…I understand the M4A1 is going to be the Top seller…the M4 a far trailing 2nd.
PSA has offered 20" Flat Top Kits for sale a lot lately, Bravo in doing so…the only thing missing is the Lower of the owners choice. Wouldn’t it be great for the Veteran or the Clone builder/collector to have the Best option available from our favorite supplier (PSA) ?
How difficult is it to stock a few for internet Sales and Store sales? I know my first M16A2 Lower purchase was a Holy Crap find in the Columbia store…I didn’t even know it was an option at the time.
I hope PSA sells M4A1 and M4 Lowers by the millions…but remember there plenty of us Rifle Types with needs too. You might not sell 200 in 10 minutes like the 1st batch of H&R Lowers…but in time even those nunbers will slow too.
Again. What kind of Commitment does PSA need from we the customers to produce other Government Property Lowers more frequently?
Several hundred lowers at a minimum. When the meme lowers started Josiah did a preorder via email because iirc back then they had to sell 500 at a minimum for it to be worth it to make them. Add in all the supply issues and inflation and currently that number is way higher. That is why we havent seen as many meme lowers recently.
Guitar Guy…Josiah was certainly justifying Set Up costs with those numbers.
I’m asking about continuing with an already established product regarding the M16A2 and A4 Lowers. Something that the Set Up fees have already been satisfied.
It depends on the serial # variance parameters they submitted and made. As for set up, any time a different lower is made you have $$ spent in changeover (cnc, tooling, time, laser engraver, etc.)
Wow…I feel like a Foreign Government trying to get Pre Bankruptcy Colt to modify the TDP for a number of M4’s I’d like to buy for my Army…and General Keyes ain’t budging to accommodate anything or anyone.
I’ll just opt for Aero Precision on the next Rifle Length Clone and be satisfied.
maybe i can be of some help. I have a feeling that some of these m16aX lowers that were produced in the past will not be produced under PSA anymore because of the up and coming releases (when they’re done tooling and all that) of the new H&R line. The Retro gun, will be a staple under H&R from what my understanding is, and thus, the clone rifle lowers, would be under them now more instead of PSA… or at least that is my theory on it all.
understandable. i’ve purchased those lowers when PSA came out with them and used them. they are good looking lowers, but i bet the new stuff from H&Rwill be even better… and much more accurate since they actually produced m16’s for the government too…
First and Foremost, I think the combination of PSA with NDS was a wonderful thing…but with all great things some small and not so small details get lost in the Hooplah.
PSA was built on making 2A Freedoms Affordable to the average guy. A role they have fit to a T to this point.
If all Government Property marked Lowers and subsequent Uppers fall under the Harrington Richardson brand , The average PSA customer just might have been priced completely out of the game?
You do the math. UPPERS and LOWERS with the H&R Quality are going to run you $320 plus tax and shipping. Thats perfectly fine. I’ll be on board for a couple easily.
However, the original PSA Government Property marked units ran between $60 & $70 on average, that’s the affordability that made PSA what it is.
In perfect world PSA would see that offering both is Not a formula for disaster but a Blueprint for continued success, no body gets left out this way.
The retro world is commanding an “as close as possible” clone. That in and of itself will drive prices up. Add in inflation and the salad days of $40 lowers is over.
I don’t see anywhere I made mention of a $40 Lower… this isn’t a 2012 Anderson forum.
The shear fact that PSA’s current Government Property Lowers sell as fast as they can produce them , makes your comments only more out of step with what the average guy is willing to gladly pay for. I’d prefer 2.5 Lowers to cost of ONE H&R…and Im willing and able to afford the latter.
I love building military clones…but I draw the line when things go from $69.99 to $159.99 without an near peer alternative.
A lot of PSA Customer Base is Not about paying Tier 1 prices for Replica’s. I’m sure a lot of folks jaws hit the floor when the H&R prices came out too.
I wish PSA had a “custom” line where you would pay more and wait longer, but you’d get what you want, engraving-wise.
I built an M16A1 clone mostly out of Brownell’s Retro parts, but a lot of USGI parts, simply because that was my issue rifle in the Marines. The left mag well was blank, so I sent it out to be engraved. Not “correct” by any stretch, but the engraving is incredibly detailed. Yes, the ribbon in the eagles mouth says “Semper Fidelis” .
If PSA decided to do a Branch Issue line of receivers, I could guarantee they’d sell better than some of the foolish meme engravings they currently produce.
Branch editions were discussed back at the beginning of the meme lowers. The insignias are trademarked and copywrited, so they are a no-go without paying a significant license fee, which would inflate the cost to not be worth it.
