I was starting to worry because it had been a little while since I’d heard from Greg’s wife. I got this update late last night…
Greg is starting to smile and squeeze the nurses hands. He was very alert today. Slow steps to improvement. Still on the breathing machine, but is breathing a lot on his own. Lungs will need a while to heal because of the Covid damage.
I did not know he was sick. Good to know he’s showing signs of recovery. I was just thinking this morning, that I haven’t seen a post from him in awhile. Kept thinking of that round stuck in your rifle, and that 1911 would’ve surely had input. He is usually the voice of wisdom around here…
Good to hear that there is positive progress, no matter how slow. As always, thank you for keeping us updated. It restores a little of a person’s hope for society to see the compassion and concern of perfect strangers in the community.
What a relief ! !
But he remains in my prayers until he is strong enough to rejoin us. This virus is unpredictable and affects people Vaxed or unVaxed inconsistently. It’s a terrible thing for anyone.
I was thinking about Greg last night. I pray he continues to improve. Hope he’s back home soon. I know he not liking that vent tube if he is that awake.
Bless him. I just got cleared today from a very mild case…and my fatigue level is mind boggling. I hope he is back to doing the things he loves very soon.
Greg sat up in an armchair beside the bed today. They are talking rehab now. Pray that he will get there in next 1-2 weeks. He is getting the cards, etc that people are sending him and he is loving it!!!
Unfortunately, I don’t have anything of late that I can really share publicly since the last update
What I can say, I hope without getting into trouble, is that the next step will be a transfer from the hospital to an inpatient rehab facility. I am hoping that rehab facility is closer to home for his family…I believe this is OK to share. Based on my last update, this transfer should be any day now if his progress continued as was expected. I have no idea how long it is anticipated that Greg will be in rehab
I’ve texted repeatedly asking for some updated info that I can publicly share, and I’ve gotten no response at all. I will continue to try…
What I can say is this, and I think people have figured this out by now. Greg’s Covid case was serious, about as serious as they come. I think it’s miraculous that he is where he is, and I’m thankful. He’s a good person and a great friend
I ask that you continue to pray for Greg, his wife, and their boy
Greg came home to Florence yesterday and is in a long trem acute care hospital. They will do some rehab. A long term acute care hospital is a step in between the ICU and the rehab facility. It is for people that no longer need to be hospitalized, but require more care than an inpatient rehabilitation facility can provide. He is still on a ventilator, but he is doing all the work of breathing on his own. They will be working with him to put him on a trach collar, which should help wean him off the ventilator quicker than without.
