Pictured is an AR-V with GRIDLOK® LITE Rail for AR-15.
It’s a review for the 4" AR-V, the smallest this guard is made is 8.5" but it looks like it fits. I love the upgrade, but unsure if this is a 4" ArV with an 8.5" guard in the picture or a larger size barrel… Thoughts?
Is John B. here? Paging John B…
If you use it on a 4" barrel you will need a flash can type muzzle devise or a suppressor.
Mine, with a SI rail and a 4" barrel. Waiting on my suppressor, can only shoot it without the rail right now. Also, I had to file the inside of the rail anti rotation tabs so it would fit.
What’s the inside diameter of yours?
This picture I posted looks like it has the muzzle it came with on…
About 1.5 iirc. I wanted to be able to tuck the can.
Ugh, yea I want to tuck the Wolfman but it’s too big…
What is its OD?
1.61 I believe.
hi guitar…do you have a link for the handguard thats nice
@keyzersoze187 its a strike industries strike rail. Thats the 7" model.
Do you plan to put a light on your arv9 GG?
No.
I tried installing the GRIDLOK lite on my 7" ARV, the one that looks like a MP5. The barrel nut that came with the GRIDLOK rail could not fit onto the barrel. The gunsmith said the ARV barrel was not standard AR15 size.
I reached out to Palmetto support, and was told the barrel size is standard Ar-15 size, which contradicts my experience.
I am trying to avoid buying a different barrel, so would my best option be taking it to a different gun smith to see if they have a different handguard that does fit?
Thanks!
my arv’s barrel is standard ar-15 as should be yours. mine is short, at 4" if memory serves me.
i had no issue with the barrel nut on mine, but it is obviously not a gridlok rail
I’d like to do something similar. Following for updates.
It might be helpful to post pictures of the barrel and SI barrel nut. Are you saying it won’t even slip over the threaded end?
After removing the ARV barrel nut, the SI barrel nut would not fit over the barrel itself so that it could even make contact with the threaded part of the upper receiver.
I didn’t think to remove the barrel itself from the upper receiver and see if the SI barrel nut would fit on to the threaded part of the upper. I figured, if it won’t fit onto the barrel, why bother trying.
My hunch is that the 7" barrel used for this ARV skew (the barrel that has the tri-lug on it) is slightly larger than regular barrels.
Here is a picture of the Gridlok lite’s barrel nut.
Im having a hard time visualizing why the barrel nut wont go over the barrel. There is no way the barrel is bigger than the upper threads.
Can we get any updated pics with a can?? I don’t know how I haven’t seen that one, so beautiful
I saw a few videos online on the install of the rail, and it seems like a pretty straightforward install. There must be something I’m missing here
I ended up returning the GRIDLOK LITE and I will go to a different gun smith to see if they can help get a hand guard that fits. My ARV feels a bit front heavy so getting a different hand guard might help with the weight.
