Hello my jakl in 300 blackout jammed when trying to load a round. It kept doing it over and over again. The bullet wasn’t fully seated and you can see a small gap in the ejector port showing the round wasn’t all the way in to fire.
It was completely jammed. Trying to pull back the charging handle did absolutely nothing. It wouldn’t budge open to eject the round or go further in to seat the round to fire it.
I had to use a knife to pry it open.
I tried multiple times with a metal duramag and a lancer and a magpul pmag.
It’s not the magazine and the issue seems to be all in the upper receiver area.
One theory was and (I’m not fully believing this but i dunno) it seemed it jammed more with the subsonic rounds with the more grain
I used some standard plinking ammo and had less issues than the subsonic 200 grain and the 220 grain.
Is this a known issue that has been resolved I’m missing in my search?
Thank you in advance!!
I don’t suppose you have a 300 blk go/no-go gauge, do you? What you’re describing sounds like it’s a headspace issue. If you have any try lightweight supersonic ammo to see if it seats and fires. Subsonic ammo definitely has more headspace issues.
Next time mortar it to get it open.
What ammo are you using? Did you lube it really good?
I was using Sellier & bellet tactical ammunition 200 grs.
It wasn’t soaking wet but not dry.
No i don’t sir.
Supersonic did seem to work better. That was one theory of my buddy who noticed we had more problems with the subsonic. We had the same issue with the supersonic but i was able to finish the mag easier.
With sub sonic i had to pry it open after each load.
I had to ask about the gauges, but if you had those you’d be way ahead of us already. Ok, back to the problem. First things I’d look for are make sure there is nothing jammed in the chamber. I saw recently on this forum where someone had a ring of a case break off and get jammed way up in the chamber. Can you take a picture looking up into the chamber? It might be tough to get a good angle, but it could be helpful. Take a picture of the face of the bolt, too. If there aren’t any blockages from debris, I wonder if the chamber isn’t deep enough for some reason. I know PSA test fires everything before it leaves the factory, but if they used supersonic it might have missed a problem.
I strongly recommend you don’t fire it more until you resolve this issue. If the bolt won’t close and lock securely, you could get an out of battery detonation which can be dangerous. If nothing is blocking the rounds from seating deep enough for a full lockup, you should consider contacting PSA support for an RMA. The process is roughly a week turnaround, depending on shipping.
I had the same issue with my 300 BO Jakl, it was the magazine in my case, specifically the 300 BO PMAG. Every round wether it fired or not the bolt would not stay open, had to use a multitool to pry it open.
My issue isn’t about staying open it’s more of a jammed shut when trying to load a round
OK good to know. I was thinking of getting 300 blackout blanks and trying to see if it will work.
I’ll try to take the picture today.
If anything I’ll take to my gunsmith.
that is an option, but know it may void your warranty. PSA has a lifetime warranty, but having someone else or yourself take it apart may in fact void the warranty. This past weekend I took my 300blk jakl out as well. I had an issue almost similar as to what you’re describing with the first time i tried to charge the rifle. It was very stiff, and hard to charge, however once i did pull it back and release it was good to go with out issues on everything… so the only thing i can possibly recommend is to get a flashlight out and double check the breach and throat of the barrel to make sure there are no burrs r anything that could be hampering the ammo from going into battery.
Were there any tell-tale marks on the spent casings?
Thank you all for your advice. I might take it back to palmetto. I ordered dummy rounds that weigh the same grain as the subsonic and I’m hoping to recreate the issue and post it here.
No the casings looked fine.

Same issue here. Binds up regardless of magazine. Ammo Inc 155 gr BTHP range ammo. Will not go into battery, will not eject without applying serious force to the charging handle. It seems like there is a sharp edge on the feed ramps that is biting into the copper jacket. Maybe an edge break / chamfer would solve this problem?
Yes there’s a little rust / debris in there, but that’s only visible under magnification & bright white light used to take the photo. Gun looks clean to the unaided eye.
I want to love this upper, but this feed issue is going to be a deal breaker.
Hwve you tried other ammo? Have you lubed it well?
I had the same issue and after getting 1 round to fire it runs flawlesly but even after cleaning and lubrication every now and then it will jam on first round. I took the o-ring off of my extractor spring and seems to have fixed it although it can reduce the life of said extractor spring. My biggest issue is when running 220s everything is fine. Run sub-x 190s and i get lrbl but the bolt will “miss” rounds while firing and jam the round between feed ramps and mag lips usually leaving a bad scar on the casing and in worse case bending the brass. Will cycle and lrbl with or without the can on both 220s and 190s but jams or “misses” rounds from the mag with 190s.
