Good Bless our Armed Forces, and the ones we honor this Memorial Day, for they paid the ultimate price for the freedoms we enjoy. Amen.
AMEN brother and sister

It is too bad that so many don’t truly understand the real meaning Memorial Day and what it honors.
“Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends” (John 15:13) I will add an addendum to that Bible verse.
“Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends, a stranger or his Country”. I will always have a huge place in my heart for my brothers and sisters in LE and the Military. You guys don’t receive the recognition or pay that you should receive. To the spouses and family members of my brothers and sisters you absolutely don’t receive the gratitude that you should. Being a Military wife or child can be extremely challenging. The same goes for LE spouses and family. You see your loved one walk out the door and wonder if you will see that person come back home to you in one piece, pieces, or at all. That is an awfully heavy burden to carry day to day or months to months.
Very true.
Every service member gave Uncle Sam a blank check up to and including your life.
Memorial Day is for our fellow service members that had that check cashed at full value.
Veterans Day is for those of us that served and either got the check back or it was cashed for some value.
Armed service day is for those that have Uncle Sam holding the check.
A lot of people do not understand that each of the above groups have their own day.
When I was a kid in the 70’s my family called it decoration day. Sad that our country has has forgotten what the day is all about.
@mr.jeffdh I have never heard it explained quite the way you just did. It was simple, directly to the point and eloquent in it’s message. If that is your own idiom Sir, then you have congratulations from me on a well spoken turn of phrase.
The check statement I heard from someone after I joined the NAVY.
The rest of it come from the heart.
Thank you for you kind words.
Unfortunately Veterans Day is becoming more expensive to us all. So many that thought they got their check back have now found out that part of their check was indeed cashed. The part of the check that was cashed didn’t leave visible scars or limbs missing. It did leave mental scars that continue to take their toll. God bless us all because nobody should have to live with the memories and horrors of what man is able to do to one another.
so very true.
IMO-All my heroes are ghosts and I think about them often. For me and what I knew about them they would want me to celebrate life and get busy living. On Memorial Day I reflect and am very grateful. Have a great weekend PSA.
All of the comments are so true and the fact that as Americans many do not understand Memorial Day is proven in the salutation HAPPY Memorial Day! At one point I was one of them. The day set aside to honor those who gave their lives has become the celebration of the kick off of Summer. All well and good as long as, first and foremost, we remember those who paid the price so that “We the People” can celebrate.
Support our troops! What are y’all doing this weekend to honor the fallen? I’m going to a memorial service.
Memorial Day is a Day of Observance to Honor those who died in service to our country and Our Flag .Current and future generations are grateful for the dedication and sacrifice of those Brave Souls.
We Remember, Honor and Thank those that make this Country GREAT!
It is a work day/night for me. I sat and thought about those I knew that have fallen. And the ones still here carrying on. Let a couple Brothers know I was thinking of them. Promised to get together and fish this summer. Miss my Brothers.
