Because those records aren’t destroyed they are retained for a very long time and soon it will basically be kept forever. They are slowly and quietly making a searchable database of 4473 forms. In 10 years or less they will have a fully searchable database of every firearm sold through 4473. This is supposed to be illegal. The aft didn’t seem to care about the law. They really act like they are the ones who decide what is legal and what is not. The courts need to stop this before it gets out of control. This will cause armed conflict. Even if that only means raiding people’s homes for things that were legal before the aft changed their minds.

FFLs are required to keep 4473s and A&D records for 20 years, not 6 months.
If an FFL goes out of business prior to 20 years, we can store the records until expiration, or send them to the AFT for storage (I intend to retain until expiration - the aft is openly scanning and databasing those they receive).
I believe he was thinking about the fact that the FBI is required to destroy the nics check. I don’t know if it is 6 months but i believe it is a fairly short period. Even if they do destroy the nics request it doesn’t eliminate the 4473.
Ok, yeah that makes sense.
Yeah, they’re SUPPOSED to destroy record of the nics check, which (beyond the type of gun) does not hold a record of the gun’s identifying information.
But supposed to doesn’t mean they actually do. NICS is all electronic. I believe we will learn down the line that a “malfunction” in the record retention schedule of the software caused all NICS records to be retained indefinitely.
