Just to update, I’ve ordered a KAK extended heavy buffer (8 oz) and a carbine length flatwire spring. I’ll report back with further updates! Thanks for the advice and good shootin!
Go here and read 9mm AR Troubleshooting Guide (simple blowback) – Blowback9.com best source of info on AR9 pcc
is part of https://blowback9.wordpress.com/ lots of info.
That will affect extraction, the bolt has to ride over the ejector tight . Had ejecting problems in few PCCs cause the ejector been to low. From normal ar9 lowers to adapters . lots or info here https://blowback9.wordpress.com/
By the way, after experimenting with Franklin binary triggers, you can any buffer you want but for MUST ar9 for the bolt not to be over run by the trigger you have to use a 6 to 7 onz exte4nded buffer or a 5 oz buffer and a 2 oz extended weigth and the frankling medium spring that comes with the binary trigger or you can use the heavy spring but think is over killing it. Reason is that super heavy buffer and bolt will work on semi auto but in binary the trigger will over run the bolt a lot .
Appreciate it! I likely will have the ejector looked at/modified next
The only thing missing from step one on the flow chart Did you buy an AK-V? No: Proceed to the flowchart.
Late on this but just to update for those who helped and future travelers:
I added a carbine length flatwire spring and and I was lucky enough to find a deal on an extended buffer WITH configurable weights. I’m running all tungsten weights so my buffer + bcg is on the heavier side, weighing in at 26.7ozs. I also adjusted my ejector hook to sit closer to the BCG. To my pleasant surprise, this took literally no machining other than loosening the set screw and just playing with the ejector height until I found a spot I was comfortable with (close, nearly snug to the BCG but not touching/dragging)
This gun cycles like BUTTER now.
Thanks for all the tips and happy shooting! Happy Independence Day!
how much does just the buffer weigh? i found around 8oz to be my favorite
Gonna be honest chief, I’ve since installed a SS (will be testing at a range this weekend, wish me luck) and since the buffer’s extended neck is just too long to make it past the lever, I’d have to take apart my entire FCG just to weigh the buffer.
But since I’m running all tungsten weights, I’m gonna go by the KAK standard and say ~10oz.
Definitely on the heavier side but since adding the SS I’m hoping that weightiness will help with reliability
completely understandable, 10oz should be great i have some around that weight too less recoil
