This particular weapon was gifted to me by the Ownership team/Management team of PSA. This was about a year into my fighting cancer, and they had decided to have this very special rifle built in my honor and gifted to me. It’s hydro dipped in the USC Block C for Carolina gamecocks, with the gamecocks colors of Garnet and Black. It came with the MOE stock, a BSF red and black carbon fiber / stainless steel barrel, a PSA 2 stage trigger, and a sig sauer romeo red dot. I added a bunch of red anodized Strike Industries odds and ends, and we ended up with what you have here for the most part.
Roll Tide! @bamaGrad thank you for the kind words and prayers. I really appreciate them and honestly wouldnt be here if it werent fro the support of and prayers from folks like you in the firearm community and the support of PSA. Thanks for the positive complements on the dip of the rifle. It is truly one of a kind and my prized possession AR9. I cant thank Josiah Jamin and the rest of the other folk at PSA for it , and for all else they have done for me over the past 3 years.
Once you build your PSA9 lower i’d love to see some photos of it.
I will certainly do that, but it will be nowhere near the gun that PSA did for you! God bless you, my brother and I will be in touch as soon as my gun is completed. I started Gun Painting: Duracoat, Cerakote, & Rattle Can Photos & Discussion under Non-PSA Products; check it out. Oh, and thanks for the Roll Tide; Go Cocks!
Thanks again for the kind words. I’m sure yours will be very cool. I’ve done my share of ceracoate and rattle can rifle builds in t he past. I’ve found that ceracoate or duracoate i cant remember which has a rattle can application available that actually works real well for the home armature. with proper surface prep and instructions followed you can get a real good finish out of those. Thanks for the go Cocks too. we’re probably the only team who can continually lose and still load up the stadium with fans
@GuitarGuy was thinking of getting the blade brace. How do you like it?
Also I noticed your gun on the right. Youre handgaurd swallows the can. Did it take a lot of research for you to find one that fits? What came first the can or the handgaurd?
Griffin and yhm make pretty thin cans but haven’t found much.
@kp.latour I prefer the SBA3. When I built that AR9 the KAK blade was the new thing. It’s ok, but not my favorite because it isn’t adjustable without a wrench. They are now, but hard to beat the SBA3.
As for my SBR, yes about 1" of the can is tucked. Several companies make big rails, that is a Samson Evo. Midwest Industries makes one that i will probably get for my AR-V. You have to be careful because some cans have the locking mechanism on the can instead of the mount. If you tuck a can like that you may not be able to remove it easily.
Edit: I built my sbr as I waited to get the can and paperwork for the lower. I planned it all out prior to buying anything.
@GuitarGuy thanks for the info! It’s hard to obtain the inside diameter of some of these rails without getting in touch with Customer service. Currently waiting on tax stamp for OSS helix. Can’t wait to get fitted and hit the range. Ordered nov 12 so about 5 months into waiting period
I’m thinking for now I will stay away from “tucking”
If all goes well with the oss can I was thinking of getting the new rad9 for the ARV9. Will keep the thread updated with pictures when acquired.
