looking good so far. are you going to keep them all monocolor or are you going to do more of a cameo style paint on them?

For now, monochrome

Subject to future whims of course. :joy:

I’m not particularly fond of the tyranny paint. It came out much glossier than I expected, and I’m not sure I can live with it. The online pictures I used as reference for color choice, in my opinion, didn’t represent the finish very well.

Greg gave me some great correction tips that I may try to get it more where I’d like. Or not, I haven’t decided yet.

Sometimes hitting a glossy finish with a matte clear will help take some of the shinyness away. Are you using a magblock adapter for the 9? If so, I’m sitting on 8 new PSA/Metalform mags if you need some!

I am not using a mag block adapter

I can’t say I’ll never run one. My 9 build is pushing the limits of my AR knowledge in that I’m trying things I haven’t even tried in a standard AR, and being a blowback design I may be in for big disappointments, or pure happiness.

Either way I’m learning more, and will correct deficiencies if there are any, and move on.

Besides, if those mags are 30rds I couldn’t buy them from you anyway…

What are you using, then? Endomag? Sorry, picture says AR9 but it’s a standard lower so I’m curious. I’m not sure why people have issues running 9mm ARs. I have built a few with Colt style magblocks and a few more with Glock lowers. The only issue I’ve ever had was the first bolt I purchased wasn’t ramped and I broke a trigger pin. Sent it to Adco to ramp it and problem fixed. That was years ago, though, and all the new bolts Ive seen are ramped.

Well done sir! I like the two tone combo too. Let us know how it runs for you.
Will be watching for your AR9 project. I got hooked after shooting my nephew’s FX9 3 yrs ago. I have 2 FM9 one pistol(bought) and carbine (bought lower built upper). I like the LRBHO …mainly for the young shooters in my life and me, l have OCD. Like stated before run a ramped bolt. And a heavy buffer too, you are doing a scratch build. My lowers were bought and the timing was spot on, not one hiccup with the two; 115 or 124 gr. running it wet.
Keep us posted!

I’m gonna leave the FDE stock.

While my anal OCD isn’t happy, it m going to live with it for now.

Not sure how I feel about this…

I’m expecting it to run well.

Quality PSA upper, stellar PSA trigger, quality magazines, the Armaspec products have yet to let me down, nor anything from Strike Industries.

I purposely went MilSpec+ with this build, but used higher quality MilSpec parts without breaking the bank.

This may end up being my favorite PSA build

The AR 9 will be a different story entirely

A couple suggestions on the 9mm if you’re interested. I’ve settled on a standard 308 luth-ar buffer spring and KVP 7.5oz SS buffer in my builds. Works great! I have opinions on upper parts, too, but don’t want to clog your thread!

Opened up this .30/.308 Cookie Cutter to 9mm.

I gave it the same .045 clearance for the larger projectile as Strike Industries gave it for the rifle caliber. .345” to now .405”.

Some have expressed concern of a projectile strike.

It was drilled out on a lathe, it is concentric. Certainly not done by hand…I’m a little smarter than I may appear :joy:

I think the thumbnail from the lighting on the pic was causing concern.
We’ve talked for long enough to know you’re definitely not a McGoo.

I’ll get a better picture. :joy:

Like I said, done in a lathe so it’s concentric. I also put in the minimum chamfer because I’ve now broken the coating. I expect it to chip and erode away…

Trying to keep my molestation to a minimum
