Hey everyone, I was wondering if anyone has tried using the 8” AKV aluminum lower hand guard on any of the GF/ AKM series rifles? A few people have asked on the product page but there are no answers or indications from reviews or comments that specify whether it will would be cross compatible.

It should fit. I say should because gunsmithing may be needed.
I can only speak for myself but perhaps the lack of this product reviews is because its just another metal hand guard on an already heavy weapon. Personally, I like the looks, function, feel, and light-weight of the Magpul AK-47 Upper/Lower Handguard. All colors except black.
But I completely understand your need to answer your question. When this happens to me I usually find my answer Google or YT. Someone has definitely installed that guard and has an experienced opinion.
Thanks dude. Minor fitting isn’t an issue, I was more concerned with maybe the sling loop/ guard retainer being in a slightly different position or the AKVs having different hand guard widths, etc.
I definitely understand your point on weight, that’s always an issue. Nearly half a pound added through a handguard isnt the greatest addition to an already heavy weapon, but expanding the accessory capabilities by 100% is pretty good trade off, too.
Its also a fairly new product that hasnt been out for long.
Absolutely true that guard is necessary for serious add-ons. As an old boomer I haven’t done much larping, except for some annual 80’s military role play. If I can install a sling, red-dot, and flashlight, it will have to do lol. But Im all for young people pushing arms traing and games way beyond just range attendance like myself lol.
I have the 13" on my GF3 and it fit perfect. I would only assume the 8 would fit the same as the adapter that fits into the receiver appears to be the same. No fitting required. It seems nice and rigid with 0 play.
I was a little hesitant at first because of the price but I am pleased with it. It isn’t very heavy either which is a nice thing. I can’t really tell a difference in weight between the full 13" rail vs the magpul that it replaced.
