Trauma kits

Found the link to the kit PSA stocked (currently in out of stock status). North American Rescue (NAR) is the gold standard for this type of gear. They are not the only reputable vendor either.

I’m not seeing adequate discussion on this topic so, here we go.

I’ve been in the gun community too long to not carry an IFAK (Individual First Aid Kit) if I have a gun on me. I’ve grown that to a trauma kit (5.11 sling pack) if im planning a range day.

I have seen a kaboom on a NFA registered full auto M-16, multiple gunshot wounds to support hands, video of a kaboom revolver gashing a female patrons head, and an out of battery detonation after FTE of full auto Sten sending brass very close to another RSO’s jugular. This is just some of the highlights.

Other terms:
IFAK, IPOK, MFAK, MED KIT, Trauma kit. Im sure others have their prefered term from EMS, Law Enforcement and Military service.

If youv’e not had formal training such as a 1st Aid/ CPR course or it’s been a few years, things have changed. You may find a Stop The Bleed course that delves more explicitly into trauma response. Stop The Bleed courses, generaly are a free course and well worth your time (google for your area or ask your local hospital or community College). This gives you the knowledge and skill to use the items in your kit.

Statistically speaing, your more likely to use an IFAK than a sidearm for self-defense.

You’re never too old to learn something new.

Not sure I’d want to offshore shopping.

Pakistani gone.

In a way, he brought us back to this post. It reminds me I need to do better about gear like this. I don’t carry anything like that when I go to the range because I tell myself “oh it won’t happen to me”.

Just a friendly reminder!
