10/26/2024 Saturday morning we will be at the Myrtle Beach store and gun museum

My wife and I along with @Rufus and his significant other will be going to the Myrtle Beach PSA store and it’s gun museum on Saturday Oct. 26. I plan on making a day of it. I also have to pick up a few AR15 parts to pick up for a friends son. I am hoping to be there by 10am when they open but that all depends on Amy’s packing the kitchen sink and toilet. If any of you guys would like to meet us there and have a little forum get together and a bite to eat. I would love to have some of you guys show up. I am sorry for the late notice. My wife and I will be going on from Myrtle Beach to Ocean Isle till next Thursday. I am not a fan of the beach unless I was surf fishing or at Murrells Inlet or Georgetown in my boat fishing. Due to all of the damage in the mountains of North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia we had to change plans for our vacation. I just thought about the Myrtle Beach store yesterday. My wife loves the beach so I guess that I get to be the designated shopping bag pack mule all week. Good times baby, gotta love it…

Heads up…the second floor range and museum isnt open yet. The store is huge and you can still spend a long time there.

I really hate that as I was really looking foward to the museum. Do you have any idea of when the range and museum will be open?

No i dont. When i was there 2 months ago they had not started on it yet.

It looks like the range is projected to open on 06/03/25. Of course that will be subject to any future delays so it may be even longer.

The downstairs range is open.

See I didn’t know that it is two stories. I really don’t know anything about the MB store other than the comments here on the forum. I appreciate the heads up now.

Hopefully I won’t see to much that I want. I don’t have enough room for what I have now.

We’ll be there. Just let me know an ETA.

The store is huge and worth a visit on it’s own. :sunglasses:

I’ve been there several times. Probably 500 yards from the Sam’s Club I use down here, why not?

Had a great day. Kinda hoping the mentee may have made a find or two for the Mentor. @1911 absolutely good people and a charming wife. Leasa said she’s an absolute sweetheart and she could see why I think so much of Greg.

Aww that’s sweet.

Get a room :rofl::smile::rofl:

Glad y’all met up and had a good time!

@1911

Negative. I’m out of his league. :joy::rofl::joy:

@Jammo don’t be jealous now. You know that if you didn’t live so far away you would have been there also.

I have a room all week in Ocean Isle for my wifes birthday. We did have a good time at the PSA store looking around. Luckily I got out of the store without spending too much.

Harold did sucker me into checking out a very nice OD Green Jackl. Man it felt good when you brought it up to aim. I didn’t get to fire one. I have a feeling that when the 300BO Jakl comes out one will most probably somehow find it’s way to my house.

I did pick up a few AR parts and the rest I am going to have to go online and order. The disappointing thing was how many items that was out of stock. I would probably attribute some of it on the election and people panic buying again. It is however a very nice store. I am looking foward to going back when the museum is open.

I have been in the Pee Wee League so long everyone is out of my league. :rofl:

The store’s pretty much been that way for awhile. What I found most disappointing today was how little the staff knew. Staff? There’s no triggers in this cabinet. Me? Just hand him the snuff box looking thing and read the sticker. They didn’t seem to know for sure where anything was. I’ve only been there a couple times and I felt I knew the layout better than the employees.
When it comes to the ODG JAKL @1911 mentioned that guy knew more about his watch than the gun he was showing him. Just multiple coaching moments noted.

Yes sir wish I could have joined you all.
Tell Amy happy birthday for me :tada:

@1911

Sadly there has been lots of turnover at multiple stores. When i go in Fern i always see new employees.

Yes I could see that issue happening. It seemed that most of the store staff were teenagers or very young adults. A lot of joking and talking going on but it wasn’t crude or rude. You could just tell that they were young and enjoying life. We have all been there ourselves.

One thing that I didn’t really understand was that I saw a good number of the staff were intentionally open carrying. Is there a policy that some of the staff are supposed to open carry? I have worked at a gun store part time when I was in LE. I would get off 3rd shift and go open the store. The owner of the gun store was a oral surgeon. He would get out of surgery and then come take over the store.

Even though I was a full time class 1 LE Officer I didn’t open carry. I did carry and I also had my badge and LE identification but never open carry in the store. If someone came in to rob the store the last thing that I wanted to do was to tip off the suspect that I was also armed. There was another LEO that opened up on the opposite end of the week. None of us or the owner opened carry. I was just curious if there was an employee policy that some of the staff were directed to open carry or whether it was optional for each employee.

I can’t recall ever going to a gun store and the staff weren’t open carrying. I always thought it was a security thing. Unlikely anyone will act up knowing they could get shot before being thrown out.

And yet Fern has had plenty of people try…
