Even in the vitals - if it’s a marginal shot that doesn’t immediately kill (by “immediately” I mean either dropped right there or “Dead Deer Running”) not just shot in the butt or something.
I have seen a few Deer over the years (and countless pictures of others) that were Obvious Survivors of wounds that should have Killed them. Something that would definitely have been fatal to you or me without Medical Attention (and even probably WITH). Granted, the Vast Majority of those were arrow wounds, but there are a couple of gunshot-wounded photos I’ve seen too.
I’m always amazed at the tenacity of these animals.
