Favorite Hunting Season

What is your favorite hunting season? I really enjoy small game as well as spring and fall turnkey here in PA.

Without a doubt deer season. The first cool mornings in the fall after a long, hot summer just seem to renew my spirit.

As much as I love deer season, Pig season is pretty good.

I just got into turkey hunting a couple years ago. Probably my favorite now! It can be pretty unpredictable which makes it exciting. I also enjoy the calling aspect.

Pheasant season for me! I never tire of hiking the grasslands and the adrenaline rush of a bird flushing just before you step on it!!!

The only season that makes sense on our property is deer, but I do look forward to it each year. I’d love to hunt pig though… from a helo… like they do down in Texas! Probably not really. That actually sounds really challenging. But I would love to put my 6.8 to the test on wild pig, and then enjoy some of that glorious pork bbq!

I used to walk clear cuts while deer hunting. It was pretty common to bust a coveys of Bobwhite and it would send your heart through the roof everytime.

I’m a big fan of duck & goose hunting. Field hunting geese is probably my favorite.

I bought a Browning 12 gauge when I was twelve years old, saved my own money, and wish I knew the number of birds it has taken over the past 30 years - such a great gun!

Goose hunting was a regular thing my old man and I had done for years. Little harder to do nowadays with a family of my own, but we still bang away at them every now and then. It is more sentimental for me than anything now, which makes me enjoy it even more.

I’ll take what I can get. In this part of Texas it’s hard to beat an early October cold front for an archery/managed lands deer hunt (as long as it isn’t pouring down rain).

Something about hunting that early when most people aren’t AND having decent weather. Harvested a late managed lands deer this year in February and it was almost 80° and not that rare to be out in December or January in 70°+ weather.

Yes

Whitetail but I tried pheasant last year. Loved it. I took my dad and a few brothers out to Kansas. We had a blast.

Deer season……don’t have to buy meat for the rest of the year….sausage makes great instant snack, best life experience in the field hunting.

I haven’t gotten a deer in two years and the freezer is empty - no ground, no sausage, no jerky, completely empty. this year, if it’s brown it’s down!

Been a slow archery season so far. Trying hunting from the ground with a crossbow this weekend. Have a few small bucks on camera that’s about 20 feet to my right
