224 Valkyrie

One of my sons and built our first Rifles last year, he in 300blk and me in 556. We recently got into coyote hunting and we compete in marksmanship (although he will be returning soon from Geiger, so I assume I will now be on the losing end lol) my question is does anyone hunt varmint with 224 Val and is it worth the investment of sep complete upper?

I am really trying to stick with the 224 Valkyrie. I have three AR platforms in 224 Valkyrie, one of which is a 1:6.5 twist barrel, 20”. Brass, barrels and bolts are getting harder and harder to come by. My 2 cents is a avoid the AR 224 Valkyrie and try and find a good bolt gun in 224 Valkyrie. Mossberg and Savage are your best bets but even those are rare these days. Reloads in 224 Valkyrie in an AR are very temperamental. However, the Sierra 77 GR BTHP and 90 grain BTHP in the 1:6.5 twist barrel are both screamers at 1000 yards! It is a love/hate relationship so far and I hope the 224 Valkyrie sticks around, I really like it. Hope this helps.
