Pandemic first time gun owners - fav YT channels

(Relatively) new gun owner here - now that we’re more than a year into the China virus. And “defunding the police” in democratic majority run states and cities. No military service background myself, though my father was a Marine Gunney rifle and pistol expert who taught me to shoot. So not starting completely from zero, but there’s ALOT of gear out there that I’m now learning about for the first time. What’s good vs. junk? What’s serviceable vs. Gucci? What do you need vs. want? Daniel Defense vs LWRC

Brother in law, an ex-marine, absolutely loves his LWRC. I’ve had the privilege to shoot it a couple of times, and I’ve never handled anything finer. With a great comp on it (sorry, I can’t remember the specific brand off top of my head), there’s practically no muzzle rise…so quick to get back on target and be crazy accurate. Runs flawlessly.

First build

Whatever you get, I suggest getting an upgraded grip from the standard. Something like MOE K2. The standard just feels so thin compared to other grips you can get.

I have done a couple, still end up doing things in the wrong order while watching YouTube videos… I have seen a few comments out there thinking it would be great if Palmetto would put some out there… Also, so glad there are always a couple extra springs and detent included… I have no clue where they go after they shoot off.

Anybody 3d printing?

I’ve been doing some experimenting with parts printing on a Monoprice I got for free. Actually used it to print a castle nut wrench for my first AR (PSA Magpul LPK/17 Design Lower/Aero BCG/DB Assembled Upper). I have access to some nicer printers (Prusa, Formlabs, Lulzbot, Stratesys) via my old job as a TA for a university 3D printing lab.
