Not much to say other than it performed well. They replaced the extractor around 4k, but they were firing full-auto and suppressed, literally trying to break it, and extractors don’t last forever.
(edit: also, it put up 1-1.5 MOA groups.)

Once again flannel daddy is spot on. PSA makes blue collar rifles for the blue collar crowd. Train the hell out of it, then either get an upgrade or upgrade the rifle and off you go again. I’m seriously impressed with how all that AAC ammo ran! As far as I’m concerned, that was a great review for a good rifle!
and then Charlie comes up with SDI, sending dick images!

The thing that kills me is that in the comments you still see people trashing PSA.
First off, that’s the entry-level rifle.
Second, he was firing 5k rounds through it, full-auto, suppressed, with zero maintenance or lube. That isn’t a “test”, that’s abuse, that rifle was going through something no civilian, police, or basic military AR is ever going to see. A quick wipedown and some oil every 1k, firing semi-auto, that barrel’s probably good for 10-15k rounds, more than 99% of people are going to run through one specific weapon…and no matter what the brand, by 10k you’re doing some basic maintenance/part swapping and experiencing barrel wear.
I’d love for him to put his KAC upper through that same test, but I’d bet good money he never will.
i like the review, and to me it proves that all the bull that people spew about how PSA is crap and they shouldnt buy it is all garbage. PSA makes damn good stuff and damn good prices, and it shows over and over that you get more for your m oney with them. its great kit for a very inexpensive price.
I say that beause lets face facts. most of us dont have full automatics, most of us dont go out and blow through 6000 rounds at once to k ill a rifle barrel. do i t hink it was totally a unbiased test, no, they should have ran the knights from brand new as that PSA freedom was, doing exactly the same that they did to the psa freedom barreled upper. but for what it was worth it was a great review. Not to mention its not like they were testing the Sabre against it, they chose the bottom of the barrel entry level kit.
I’d trust my life to a PSA any time, and often do, be it handgun or rifle. overall though, good video and fun test.
Yeah, the comparison to a KAC SR-25 was… odd? For that money, I could get a half-dozen PSA uppers and never worry about if it’s “good enough” to survive the apocalypse. I’m sure the SR-25 was nicer, but again, to what end? I think his conclusion at the end was correct, but also missed the point to an extent. For KAC money, I could equip my whole family and the neighbors, plus some ammo to boot. Who is a PSA for? For someone without a US Govt credit card who wants a completely functional tool. Is it going to last 10k rounds without lube? No, but why the heck would you do that except to make a point about abuse. If he did a cost for cost analysis, that would be super interesting. Take that SR-25, put whatever optic on it, can, accessories, etc. and however much ammo seems reasonable. Then take the same dollar amount and see how much you could equip a whole bunch of guys instead of one guy. Money matters, and without doing the cost analysis you end up with dumb results.
Subjected to that same abuse, a KAC upper would still get damaged extractor springs, need new gas rings, be dirty and fouled up, and have barrel wear. That’s my point. It was an unrealistic test and the rifle passed it to a degree nobody should have expected it (or any AR) to.
This test was like taking a car, running it at full throttle all day in conditions nobody would ever run it in, never putting oil or coolant in the engine, then saying “well, it DID need brake pads and a new belt” at the end after it survived while trying to justify the price of a similar car that costs 10x as much…and you didn’t put the far more expensive car through the same test.
I’m glad the PSA AR took the abuse, that’s why I made the topic. A good cleaning and a set of gas rings and that thing’s ready to roll again.
yup im agreeing with you.
the one thing i was not sure about ws the ending shots on accuracy, and it having spread out from 1.5 moa to like 6moa, that didnt seem right to me, but either way, i was pleased the psa freedom bottom of the line took all it had thrown at it and did so with grace and strength. i did before, adn will continue to trust psa with my life.
They beat the everloving (censored) out of that barrel gunking it up (especially since it was suppressed) and didn’t clean it. I suspect if they gave it a good scrubbing it would’ve returned the accuracy to an acceptable degree, even if the throat was slightly worn.
you may be right. i was surprised they chose to run the testing through it all suppressed. i thought that would just add to the issues 100 fold.
I would of liked them to clean it after 6k and try to shoot it. But I get it they are Influencers that get to play with 2k and up rifles all day. They aren’t the common man on a budget. Would they trust their life to a PSA when they have the gucci AR’s? No, would the common man that can only afford a PSA, yes. They can’t say that you shouldn’t trust your life to a PSA and only trust it to gucci AR’s when some people can only afford PSA. You use what you got.
I agree with GamecockOperator. PSA’s entry lever ARs are rock solid and will last the average shooter a life time. Worst case scenario, change the barrel and BCG and keep on shooting. I have lots of PSA guns and I would trust my life to any one of them. ![]()
thanks, but dont forget, to change those parts, all you have to do is send it in under the unlimited lifetime warranty!!! so its no dime out of your pockets!!!
Yeah no matter what the haters are gonna hate. I say by any standards the rifle held up great. I would like to see more on the ammo. Believe I need to get me some of that.
I’ve been waiting for them to lay into AAC here. I’ve been quite happy with all the AAC ammo I’ve bought.
Welcome to the PSA community @doug2944 ![]()
Thank you
Zero complaints from any aac ammo I’ve had
Exactly and those are the geniuses that spend big money on the over priced, overrated Sig and DD ! I’d put my money on a PSA all day vs either! Looks isn’t everything! Because you’re not buying for reliability or warranty cause PSA has both! Not to say the big names aren’t nice but they’re significantly over priced !!!
Bud, I’m with you. I’m never going anywhere but PSA for another AR, they haven’t given me a reason to. The whole “stigma” about them is that people just can’t get over that some companies are offering you more for your money, they just have to assume it’s a worse product.
I’ve noticed there’s some other companies that consistently offer you more value for your dollar out there, like PSA. Primary Arms with optics (primarily LPVOs and prisms) is one. Tisas/SDS Imports with 1911s is another. They are out there.
They kicked the pee outta that rifle. And I’m glad. It means mine can take far more than I personally could ever dish out.
