308 / 6.5CM FP tip sizes, and the variety I found. ( DPMS pattern )

Also… as for other places selling replacement FP’s , Arm or Ally, KAK… I have had FP’s on back order for months.
KAK just sent my order, and I will see what they are, when they arrive next week.
Wilson Combat also just came back in stock… also arriving next week.

Only Craddock Precision, went out of their way to supply me with some Tapered SD FP’s made by / supplied by Azimuth.

Here you go…it is a standard pa10 bcg

the bolt and pin

Here is the FP next to a Mrk 3 cmmg fp. The top is the psa and bottom cmmg.

Tip measurement is .0755-076 ±.0005 psa
Cmmg is .076-.0765
Measured the oal of both…
psa 3.936
cmmg 3.937
the only difference I found was in the head of the fp…the cmmg is a little bit bigger…nothing a grinder can’t take care of…
I checked both pins all the way down and all the measurements were with in .0005ish.
Im going to give the cmmg a try to see if it works…if so it will be for emergency backup purposes…LOL
If you know of one that is tit for tat exact I would be interested…
I have also checked those sites…On Tool crafts site is where I saw they make the bcg for cmmgs…the reason I got that fp.

Again sorry for the rant…it is frustrating and aggravating when you can’t get simple things like fps and extractor kits…
I guess I was so used to my ArmaLite (Previous owner now). His view was that every part in his rifles should be available to the people buying his rifles… You literately could build a AR-10 or M-15 from single part purchases… and also he had the emergency field kits for both rifles…very cool plastic boxes with basically a full spring kit and fp, extactor kit and trigger/hammer springs…
You are correct in that many companies do not have the spare parts for sale…that is why i said “and others”…PSA isn’t the only one, which is why it is difficult to own these guns…I mean you spend 1K + ish on a rifle you should be able to get the parts for backup with no issues…but it is what it is…
Again thanks for the very informative thread…hope they pin it to the parts category .

I hear you, we all are so used to a AR15 with its Mil-Spec guideline parts being so easily interchanged… it might have spoiled us. Lol

FWIW… even Armalite parts have become pretty difficult to get a hold of , now a days.

Armalite doesn’t sell parts on their own homepage… they are on this page, https://everygunpart.com/oem/armalite-parts.html?calibers_gauges=174

If you know anyone that wants to have spare Armalite AR10 parts… personally, I would stock up now.

FWIW, this is what I measured on my two PSA PA-10 Gen 3 firing pins.
I bought the original upper with BCG in 2023, box ID label says 1/20/23.
I bought a complete spare BCG in 2024, box/tube ID label says 1/17/24.

2023: 0.0754" tip dia, 3.945" OverAll Length
2024" 0.0758" tip dia, 3.939" OverAll Length

My BCG and firing pin look exactly like ETHRON1 pic. The only marking on the part is the bolt “.308 MPI”

I know I was referring to the Previous ArmaLite under Mark Westrom… the new armalite is a shadow of what the company once was…That is one of the reasons I sold my AR-10. The new owner is quite happy with it…he said he carried something very similar in Desert Storm… I forwarded the link you provided to him, I am sure he will appreciate it…and I thank you as well.
Here is a pic of it…

A little older pic

In deed…as I said there used to be a standard but now adays it tough to know what fits what…as for the 308s…
Again my thanks for the info and the link…

The KAK LR_308 / Magnum HP FP’s came back in stock.

They are indeed, Tapered with a SD Tip… 2ea .068",… 1ea .069" ( so the same as the PSA Toolcraft 6.5CM Dual ejector BCG )
https://kakindustry.com/magnum-high-pressure-bcg-firing-pin
PLEASE Note the picture in the link above… does not show the proper TAPERED ones I received. I am going to ask KAK to show the correct Tapered FP in the Link.

Also my back ordered Wilson Combat S-7 Steel FP’s arrived… NON-Tapered… 1ea .075"… 1ea .0745"
https://wilsoncombat.com/firing-pin-ar-10-mil-spec-bullet-proof-s-7-tool-steel-hard-chrome.html

Thanks for the info. That should be a good firing pin.
What is the length they sent you?

I will measure the OAL tonight on the Wilson S-7 FP.

Wilson S-7 FP, OAL… 3.940" OAL.

3.940, 0.075 dia
Looks like a good match/replacement.

… wrong thread, Lol

Lol.. my Toolcraft Dual ejector NON Tapered SD FP’s just cam back in stock, at Arm or Ally, 20 bucks ea, .066 tip size.
https://www.armorally.com/toolcraft-ar10-small-diameter-firing-pin/

Looks like a “normal 308” sized FP. ( No Taper. ) Typically Used in the Toolcraft Gual Ejector 6.5CM BCG’s. Or High Pressure other rounds … . 260 Rem.

Can be used with 308s as well

I ordered these in Aug 2024.
