I heard there was a JAKL upper for the ks-47 in the works. Is that really happening?
This is a goal for the long-term future. We want to release the standard 5.56 and 300 first!
That will be a must buy.
While I want a x39 JAKL upper, there would be some very specific differences necessary for a KS-47 JAKL. They would need to add material to machine over insertion tabs (so they can’t just use standard JAKL upper receivers and don’t forget that a KS-47 upper is around 1mm wider than Mil Spec) and figure out if they can beef up the recoil system for the more powerful 7.62x39. PSA is awesome about figuring these things out, I worry all their focus will be on the new endeavors they have announced. Let’s not forget they just said they are going to be producing M1 garands and the new ammo plant. To be brutally honest, PSA always has a lot of irons in the fire and I just don’t see them spending time and manpower on a niche market offering.
I would also defiantly love to see this combo available. This would be truly unique and would sell like crazy. Galil killer. May also be good to compliment the new ammo plant in production and drive up demand for 7.62 x 39.
With new sanctions likely to turn last year’s import moratorium into a defacto instant cut-off, I expect demand for 7.62x39 will far outpace supply for a while, especially domestic production. Much as I am in favor of an infinitely-diverse firearm ecosystem in principle, it isnt necessary to drive ammo demand.
Are we any closer to getting the ks47 jakl? I have this moeny right here, just waitin.
Status?
PSA doesnt give hard dates. Also it appears the Vuk (concept at SHOT) is the direction they may go.
I’m going to be very blunt here. We are never going to see a JAKL upper for the KS-47. PSA has moved on and once they do that, they don’t look back. They have a bunch of new “hotness” to push, stuff that will keep their name in the spotlight and they are not going to waste time and money on those of who bought the old “hotness”. Honestly, I figure we have 3 years, most, until they roll up the whole KS-47 product line. They’ll honor warranty work, but new production will cease. You haven’t been able to get builders kits in over a year, you can’t get stripped uppers and they have been out of enhanced extractors for I don’t know how long and now they have new toys for people to spend their money on. PSA doesn’t care what they told you in the past. They will simply quit talking about it and when you ask they will BS you for awhile about supply chain and other projects, until they let their company Insiders know it’s over and then those folks will confirm it, if asked, all the while saying it’s better for everyone this way and that we should all be happy for the new “hotness”. The only hope for those of who love the KS-47 will be other companies like Gibbz Arms and Billet Rifle Systems picking up the ball and running with it, because PSA is done with us.
they haven’t gave up on the cougars, but producing fuel for the machine to run on probably took priority
Yep, that’s the excuse they use, we have to focus on other things and will get to it eventually, only eventually never comes…just ask those who waited for the PS5.
ps5?
The ps5 was intentionally shelved to invest $100mil in the ammo plant. PSA could not build and sell one cheaper than mp5 clone imports.
The VUK concept used the KS-47 lower. KS 47 stuff also still comes in and out of stock. When it is in stock it sells out quickly.
ohh yea i forgot all about that when i got my akv… my bad
They mentioned that the vuk uses a ks-47 ish lower. I wonder if that means the vuk lower won’t be compatible with the ks-47 or if that means we’re getting ks-47 gen 3 with the new lower being compatible with the vuk upper…
Does anyone know if they plan on producing mid-length and rifle length ks-47 barrels?
Its still a concept just as the KS 47 version of the jakl was.
Speaking of KS-47, I was @ my FFL last week and he had an absolutely beautiful camo cerakoted one that the owner had it back in there to coat the can to match the rest. He’s supposed to be sending me a couple pics.
Anyone know the future of a possible JAKL in 7.62x39? Bear Creek makes an AR upper in 7.62x39. I can’t imagine that PSA couldn’t do the same with a barrel swap and appropriate adjustments to make it a true JAKL.
They have show concepts based on the KS 47 lower and as a different concept (the VUK). All at this point are concepts.
