Went for the Vietnam exhibit, which has been delayed and wont open until November. Still come cool stuff. Well worth the $6 admission fee.

And the more modern stuff:

Been to the Confederate museum in New Orleans on a field trip when I was in the 4th grade (1969) and to the location of the Battle of Richmond in Virginia. There was a hill overlooking the battlefield and the field hospital treated wounded both Union and Confederate soldiers alike. I also visited Fort Morgan on the west side of Mobile bay. There, and from the east side at Fort Pickens, both forts cannon turrets fired upon the Union fleet as it sailed into the bay. Admiral Farragut of the Union Navy uttered the famous words :Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead! (Sea mines were referred to as torpedoes back then). The mines exploded and damaged/sunk some ships, and cannon balls ripped through masts, hulls and men, but the Union Fleet broke through and landed on Mobile.

They have some nice relics & artifacts there. At least they actually have displays with real artifacts not like so many so called, “museums” nowadays that only have posters or pictures of events and pictures instead of real artifacts. I don’t call those type of museums a museums. I call them tourists traps which is exacty what those type “museums” really are. Suck you in thinking you will see some nice exhibits and artifacts. I have literally turned around and asked for my money back as soon as I realized what type museum that I was at. This is one reason that I am so passionate about collecting and preserving our history. If museums don’t care enough or have enough money to actually find, purchase and display real artifacts that is indicator of our history being lost to the public or actually being lost to time. If not for the people like me and many others throughout history that took the time to find, keep and preserve these artifacts we would only ever see them in pictures. If a picture is worth a thousand words then an actual item or artifact is worth a million.
