AAC "Sabre Blade Black Tip" 5.56 NATO,75gr , 62gr, 55gr

Can someone please tell us what bullet is being used ?

All I can find is… Bullet Type: Sabre Blade Black Tip.

And… if possible, could a PSA Product AAC Ammunition sub section be added to the PSA Products section ?

Unfortunately, we’re not privy to their licensing agreements (nor should we be). Might be home cooking for all we know.

I will say @ that price point I’ll be happy to stack a few and try them out.

I’m anxious to get a couple boxes of this “Sabre Blade Black Tip” to see what it’s all about. Now that it’s on the website, it should be available sometime soon.

There was talk about it back during the big Shot Show, but no one actually gave any description about it. Doubt it’s armor piercing, but it might be self-defense-type ammo.

picked up a hundred of the 62gr. been having success with the Ammo Inc. 60gr. V-Max in multiple set-ups 20", 16", 1:7, 1:9 all printing smaller groups…hoping for even more with this cartridge, any feedbacks yet?

Can’t wait to try the 62 GR!

Made it to the range this AM, chrono’d some various rounds and shot groups.

The AAC / PSA Sabre Blade Black Tip bullets are similar in construction to the Sierra TMK.
This thread isn’t about the SBBT’s terminal performance. Ballistic gel tests concerning that are coming as/per Jamin w/ PSA

Rifle is a 20" 1n7.7 twist Krieger barrel. ( I consider this to be a “fast” barrel, so YMMV ) 100yds, Benched , bagged, scoped, etc.

The 75gr AAC SBBT ( lot # SCL2CF081 ) chrono’d at an average of 2704fps, ES of 39fps, SD of 11.0

The first 10rd group is great, I must have aligned all the Shooting Gods stars. Lol

Next 11rds…( oops ) still darned good for the price.

Next 9rds, again oops…

The AAC 62gr SBBT ( lot # SCL1CF062 ) chrono’d at an average of 2997fps, ES of 90fps, SD of 32.3

10rds

10rds… much more horizontal group, I will blame some of that on me.

All in all, I am quite happy with both. ESPECIALLY concerning the price. ( Thank You @JMan_JJE )

I will order more of the 75gr SBBT for sure, I like heavy for caliber 5.56 ammo.

That first pic…Dam. :flushed:

I have bought a box of both, 55 and 62 grain… just waiting for the weather to level out so I can see for myself… they will be replacing my Hornady 55 grn Vmax (10 yrs old) if the performance is there…I like the pictures in the previous post… :+1: :metal:

Agreed… but from experience I don’t think they are Speer or Nosler…or Sierra, otherwise they would be more expensive…

Oop. Wrong thread

Spent a chunk of the day playing with my new AB warthog 556, trying on different hosts. Ended up in my mid length 16” freedom build, with a vortex strike eagle 1-6. I hadn’t gotten around to trying the 62gr black tips til now……….holy smokes at 50 yards, 40 rounds of black tips stayed super tight. I’m working on loading a pic…………but all I know is I need a LOT more of this ammo!!!

Similar experience for me.

It sure is sweet when you find the perfect load for a particular gun.

On the other hand it sucks when you can’t hardly stay on the paper.

Enjoy @britx303

Sorry, this is 20 rounds, not 40 to be clear. It was 40 of the black tips total combined with some random 55gr Winchester beforehand. That’s what the little cover stickers are blocking over

But that picture is 20…….several shots were just staying put in one spot. And all I had for a rest is a rolled up yoga mat I took from the wife…….she doesn’t use it anyway :joy:

And battery was dead, plus sun was setting in my eyes at that point. Was getting hard to see the black dot in the scope. Then after I was done shooting I remembered the spare battery in the elevation cap

16 or 18"

Both. The 18" is a stainless barrel.
