I had a venerable old standard Ruger 10-22 that I bought decades ago. One day I decided that I could make the old girl shoot more accurately and be more comfortable to shoot. I started by ordering a buch of Kidd and Volquartsen parts. I also ordered a Zeiss scope for it. I did a full upgrade and build. I did this build over a decade ago. Some of the parts that I used back then I swapped out when some new and better parts came along. A good example is the Hogue overmoulded stock that I had put on it. I upgraded it to a Boyds At One stock that I pillar beded and glass bedded. I used all upgraded parts on this build. The only things that are now stock include the aluminum trigger housing, the aluminum receiver and the bolt housing. Everything else was swapped out. I polished the bolt and the upgraded trigger components. I ended up with 3 to 4 times more money in upgraded parts than the 10-22 originally cost me over 20 years ago. When I first bought my 10-22 there weren’t near as many aftermarket parts and companies as there are today. I enjoyed doing the build. One thing that I really wanted to accomplish was to keep it light incase I wanted to use it for squirrel hunting. With most of the gun being aluminum it was already pretty light. I ordered the Volquartsen carbon fiber wrapped stainless barrel and the Volquartsen offset scope mount that attaches the barrel itself. Overall the finished project was nicer and more accurate than I was on a consistent basis. This 10-22 isn’t as accurate as my bolt action CZ 455 that I also upgraded. Shooting either one with the SilencerCo Sparrow suppressor is a lot of fun. In the end it was a fun experience building this 10-22.
That is absolutely stunning.
Please don’t forget it in the woods ![]()
Thank you I really appreciate it. I also bought the same BOYD’S At One stock for my CZ455. I have the pillars and bedding compound I just haven’t gotten around to doing it yet. The CZ455 is scary accurate. I really wish that I that could still push the longer distances with it but Covid affected my breath control, nerve damage in my hand and my steadiness. You can see the big difference between the Hogue overmoulded stock and the Boyd’s At One stock. The Boyd’s At One stock is very affordable and the quality of the stock is evident when you hold it. If anyone is looking to upgrade to a nice adjustable stock at a good price check out the Boyd’s At One stock.
ahhh man,… i love that 10/22 it is beautiful!
Woo-hoo! I can relate the $ spent! And it shows in your builds. Tastefully done l must say in all your work! Accurizing can be a disease but the rewards is the therapy.
