I have a couple of questions when it comes to building an AK from one of the builder receivers. I am looking at the American bastard AK 104 build that is furniture ready. This is my first AK and I am confused on some parts. I know I need a trigger (im getting the ALG defense trigger the cheaper one) and I don’t know what other parts do I need? I don’t know what comes in the kit. Also the grip (B5 pistol grip for ak’s). Do I need to buy other parts for that to fit as well? Lastly I saw at the bottom of the product page it states “These hinge blocks will not pivot or fold open and are installed to fill the void on the side folding trunnion. The hinge block is also secured with a pin and will not move unless it is removed”. I am going to SBR it and use the poly side folding stock. Is the hinge going to be something I have to take to a gunsmith to have removed or will I be able to do that at home. If anyone has information or builds they’d like to show off that would help me.
Handguard might be the barwarus BW-Alpha 1 handguard.
Pictures of what you are looking at would be a big help. As for the builders kit, its just a trigger and hardware that you need. Make sure your grip comes with a screw and nut.
Be careful installing the trigger as the springs will bite you. I recommend twist ties to help with that part.
I wish I had pictures I have yet to buy it for that reason. I don’t want to buy something and not be able to put the stock on once its SBR’d.

If it has a hinge and is a true side folder then the receiver has been cut for those parts. You will need to get a stock that fits on the 4.5mm hinge. If you want wood I dont think there are any out there like that. You would have to use a metal triangle stock or a polymer stock.
To install or remove a stock is simple, its just a single pin so you need a punch and a hammer. No gunsmithing experience needed.
So you need a punch and hammer to install that. Its easy.
ok i just see that they say there is a second pin and i didn’t know if that needed to be removed a special way
Nope. Order the kit, file the SBR paperwork and while waiting for it to return order the stock and such.

I have a 104 SBR with the folding stock. Its a fun gun.
i wanna do the plum side folder and a barwarus quad rail. hopefully it fits
I would send the link of that build kit to barwarus to see what they say about fitment.
on their website it says “Our handguards are designed to fit a wide range of AK models, including 103, 104, 105, 74S, 74M, AKM, AKMS, Saiga, and similar rifles. Please note, they are specifically tailored for stamped receivers and will not fit milled receiver models.” I think it should.
It should, but before you spend a few hundred i would ask.
