This will irritate some people, but I’ve learned more about AR15s here than anywhere else.
The information is unbiased, and backed by facts and personal experience. Chad has seen over twenty some thousand AR15s come through his school.

Isn’t that you? I seen that video the other day about cleaning bolt carrier groups. Good comments and discussion in the comment section. I knew it’s someone on this forum but couldn’t remember who.
Will definitely watch videos. It shouldn’t irritate anyone, they do not have to watch the videos if they choose not to. Kinda like vaccines ![]()
Never hurts to learn more or get a different take on a subject, especially a technical one.
P.S. Tips and techniques, gained from those more experienced help and further our abilities. There is no such thing as a ‘Hack’ that’s millennium speak for I’m lazy and want a short cut.
I have absolutely no idea how many times I’ve watched those videos in the past. Lots of good information. ![]()
I occasionally get a room at a Holiday Inn Express just because.
Wouldn’t belittle Chad at all. I watch a bunch of his stuff as well. I have NiB and happen to like it a lot. Mine doesn’t happen to suffer from some of the deficiencies he noted but I see his point. To a counterpoint though I’ve also watched some of his lube videos with his “honey” mix. Does he wear a hazmat suit on first fire after a lube job?
I came up with my own concoction similar to his, so most of what I am saying is tongue in cheek in all honesty. And yes first range trip after lube I wear the oldest safety glasses I have, just in case. LOL. But damn I don’t use as much as he does. I was just blessed to work in a spot where I had access to pretty much any Mil-Spec and I read them and learned a bunch. So in some areas I’ve probably forgotten more than others will ever know in others I’m learning.
“Are you a heart surgeon?” “No, but I slept in a Holiday Inn Express last night.” LOL
aww… why? i’m gonna have to watch them now… also, i figure its good enough info to pin the topic, so i did. Hopefully itll help a lot of folks.
LOL, my manager @ Lockheed who had a Masters in Engineering used to refer to me as Dr. W*****.
I’m just happy to see @rockymountainjeep get back active a little on the forum. He and a couple other OG’s as I call them steered me in right directions to learn.
I concur… glad to see Rocky back posting!! he was missed.
Gonna watch these at work, thanks for contributing some cool vids to my video line up for work today
All you (us) old farts in here waxing nostalgic are making me need a nap…
NOW GET OFF MY LAWN!
Bolt carrier finishes wear. Period. My 200 dollar carrier and my 75 dollar one preforms the same. Knowing that I don’t spend my money on fancy bolt finishes. Spending that on optics or triggers or something that makes real felt diffrences. Just my 2 cents. I don’t think I need to brag on how many A.R. 15‘s I’ve had my hands on to make that claim.
Hm
I watched these videos. But I doubt I’ll use the tips ![]()
Speaking of Bolts …
It’s not funny - but it is entertaining in a Gory sort of way.
Shotgun bolt in the face.
Seems it was a problem with the Shotgun, the ammo was probably OK.
I’m on super low bandwidth internet (text only) so I haven’t watched it.
Damn…
Welcome to the forum
@jongler
Thanks for the video! I’ve been piecing together what I consider a very good quality AR and left with just the BCG and charging handle to consider. I’ve gone back and forth on a couple options but after watching this, I’ll probably just grab a phosphate Toolcraft and stop thinking about it. I have PSA phosphate BCGs in a few other builds and have had no issues. I’ve read Toolcraft has good staking and finishes so I’ll give that a try.
