Has anybody noticed that Ammo Manufacturers have been telling us lies about ammunition inventory. Telling us they do not have any ammunition or the supplies to make ammo, such as primer or gun powder etc. Yet they are offering to give the Ukraine millions of rounds. while this is several ammunition manufacturers not just 1, If they have all these millions of rounds to give the Ukraine. Then where is our ammo? and why is it that most stores barely have any ammo in stock? Then if they do, prices are ridiculous, nothing like a few years back or even close. So is this it, is this the prices we can expect? If Ammunition manufacturers have all the millions of rounds, then why have they been telling us lies about not having ammo and “Raising Prices Again”?
I have no problem finding ammo. I also have no problem buying at inflated prices. The panic caused by Biden’s election still has not eased. Prices have been inflated since then, and have been continuously affected by covid and now the Ukraine conflict. Panic buying also continues to happen.
I actually have seen cheaper 223 and 300blk in the past month.
My LGS shelves are chock full of many, many manufacturers, in all calibers.
I’m not sure what you’re talking about…
An estimated 12 Billion rounds of ammo are sold in the US yearly according to NSSF
And we’re complaining about 5 million? 10 million rounds max?
My guess is there’s a tax break in there somewhere
As @GuitarGuy and @rockymountainjeep pointed out, there doesn’t seem to be a shortage anymore just really high prices that are gradually coming down. BUT, if the manufacturers give millions of rounds away guess who will ultimately pay for it.
I cannot get behind the “pandemic” and or “that’s just how it is now” idea or thinking/rational. Sure, ammunition manufacturers have raised prices, their raw materials costs have gone sky high, I understand the need for an adjusted fair market price raise. But for the life of me, my simple mind doesn’t understand how 9mm brass case regular old 115gr FMJ is .30 cents a round on a BIN good deal, or that our new “normal” is $550 for 1k round case of 55gr 556 FMJBT bulk ammo.
Its dumb were giving anything to them. They asked for this. The whole thing is dumb. Our gov provoked this and condones it. I suppose we should ship our food to them since we wont give it to our gigantic homeless community were just ramping up and we definitely are paying for this all for some odd reason.
Just guessing but probably to put the american citizens further into poverty and despair so you’ll want to rely on government more. Maybe if your weak willed enough you’ll just entirely do that.
Post Sandy Hook it took 2 years and then some for ammo as well as gun prices to come down. I remember $500 stripped lower receivers, $200+ bcgs, etc.
Oh yeah, I member lol. I still remember $100 pmags and the world was ending. We’re currently two years into this Madness, and it seems there is no end in sight.
Isnt gonna be an end until we do something…
I don’t have a problem with it….
US ammo manufacturers selling or sending ammunition to Ukraine.
Those people are in the fight of their lives……for EVERYTHING.
We here in the USA have it good enough that we can complain about high ammo prices, high fuel prices, inflation, supply chain issues…etc etc.
It sucks….we are all suffering with the current administration….BUT sending the Ukrainians ammo is a minor inconvenience for us……and it can literally be the difference between life, liberty and attempting to rebuild their lives……OR the end of their lives and their culture as they knew it before the invasion.
We WANT ammo……they NEED it.
It is a minor inconvenience….that we can all endure.
Plus it feels good to know that AMERICAN ammunition is being used to kill Russian invaders / oppressors.
God help the people of Ukraine
This. Otherwise the rest of this thread is stupid.
Thread originator forgot to mention that the ammo manufacturers are deliberately not making ammo in order to drive up the price while spending millions of dollars to keep their employees on the payroll.
Thread originator also forgot to mention that said ammo manufacturers are also storing massive amounts of ammunition in secret warehouses.
Thread originator also forgot to mention that said ammo manufacturers are only selling ammo to select distributors that in turn sell to every retailers except those in the thread originator’s AO.
Thread originator also forgot to mention they took err jerrbs. Hurr durrr!!!
Buddy, you’re just creating drama for drama’s sake.
I’ve been following ammo pricing and availability closely since it began in 2020
2020 - people began buying out of fear of pandemic. Existing supply depleted quickly and retailers/scalpers saw opportunity to make money.
2021- Ammo starts showing back up more commonly in popular calibers, price is still relatively high but lower than that of July-Dec of 2020. due to record high inflation in the US. the retailers have seen that people are willing to pay these higher prices.
August 2021 - White House announces Russian ammo ban- steel case ammo sees a spike in price overnight. Then drops back down on a few months.
- Jan and Feb prices were trending down. Then SHTF in Ukraine and Russia. Steel case starts creeping back up. 7.62 is now more expensive. Above $0.10 a round higher than before. And people are anticipating the expiration of ammo import forms from Russia on brands like Barnaul, Tula, Vympel, etc. as a result. Brass ammo starts to slowly move back up some in price Feb-March 2022.
We will never see the prices that existed pre-pandemic. This a lot of Marco economics at play here. Labor supply shortages are real, raw material shortages, raw material price increases, less imported foreign ammo, increased consumer demand, inflation, War in Ukraine, excessive government stimulus money - Millions of people got free money over the past two years they could go spend on things they normally wouldn’t have bought - a lot of people bought guns and ammo. Throw all that together and you got a perfect storm recipe for higher ammo prices. And k don’t know that we will see much if any relief from it for the next few years. many new people took an interest in guns when Covid gun began. So you have millions of more people competing for ammo. The demand is there for ammo currently, As long as people are willing to pay the high prices, the price will stay high
I remember when everyone panicked abput the russian ammo ban. I can still find loads of 7.62x39 for under $.30. I bought a whole bunch anyway so I’ll be ready to buy PSAs steel 7.62 next year
I was fortunate for years before all the BS started and PSA had the bulk ammo deals is when I stocked up! But if it’s a decent price nowadays I still buy it.
I’ve been seeing 350 cartridges at every Walmart coast to coast. I’m not familiar with that. Does anyone own a 350 rifle?
I’m seeing more .22 ammo available at Walmarts everywhere. A local gunshop in NE is getting better at shelving ammo. I did find some #5 and #6 pheasant loads for a friend last week.
If worse comes to worse, a .22 will kill a deer at close range. Definitely not ideal but it can be done. A .17 HMR is even better. !
Your in Nebraska?
